When Cody took the protective mask off and there were a few weeks where it was implied the bloody beating from Orton made him snap, but then that was dropped because Serial Killer Kane happened and we couldn't have 2 crazy gimmicks at once.

After WM7, Randy Savage became a commentator as we all know, but his early commentary was still kind of heel-ish. Just watch the April 1991 SNME for proof (that said, he obviously didnt support Sherri).

Yeah, he didn't fully go face for that until after the wedding thing with Liz (just in time for Flair to come into the company too).

Complete with his catchphrase, "Is there a problem? I don't think so," which failed to catch on, written on his jacket.

If anyone wonders how that would have turned out, check what Rob Conway is doing lately.

Watch SummerSlam '90 and you'll hear a mixed bag as far as who he's aligned with. I'm guessing Vince wanted to make another Jesse before he gave up and decided to have his color guys stay face. Another theme music example: "At Last" sounded more like a Bohemian Rhapsody ripoff before it was altered. Also... That non-descript music between the Nation theme and the Rock theme we all remember. The Rock used this the Raw he faced D'Lo. Godfather starting out as just Kama Mustafa dressed like a mobster in black, just before that morphed into the pimp thing. (oddly enough, the DX parody is what gave some of the NOD their characters, as Billy Gunn made the first suggestion of GF being a pimp. Kind of like how they doubled down on Owen not being a nugget too...)

Between the NWA Revival gimmick and the Don't Piss Me Off-era, Jeff Jarrett revisited the Double J gimmick, only with Col. Robert Parker (known as Tennessee Lee) as his manager and The Godwinns (Then dubbed as Southern Justice) as his problem solvers (Well before Tyson Tomko, I might add.)
Later on Southern Justice would serve as the prototype for what the APA became in 2000, at least in my opinion.

After Farooq got kicked out of the NOD, but before the acolytes he wore some weird tribal tights:

The WWF War Zone roster is so weird because it basically captures a group of guys that were only around together for a few weeks in October 1997: Similar video game weirdness, 1993's Royal Rumble for the SNES featured both Lex Luger and Ric Flair, even though they were technically only on the roster together for one day.
