lol I have no f***ing idea what the hoopla is concerning. I love cody. “ poor Cody”/laughing at Cody memes are great lol
Im really not sweating any of this road to WrestleMania. Enjoying the heck out of it. Last year, night one was celebrated as one of the best WM -in-whole in ages. Night two had some BANGERS™. This one could be an all timer. Just enjoy the ride lol

I love the Rock, but I just can’t see him wrestling a half hour match at his age and after a long absence from the ring. He was very gassed in his Punk and Cena matches.
As I said in another thread, a triple threat with Cody helps take the load off of him.

A lot of talking and slowed down pace throughout with bursts of energy.

That Barrasso report comes across like his "multiple sources" was him watching Raw on two TVs. He watched Raw, saw Gunther confront Seth, saw Punk and Cody verbally spar, and just ran wild with it.
I don’t know what to believe. I do think that if Rock vs. Roman happens, this year, it’s going to be at Mania. They’ve been wanting this match for a long time. And not for Elimination Chamber. They want it for their marquee show. And if it does happen, it won’t be because they’re sabotaging Cody or sticking it to the fans. It will be because they consider The Rock as their crowning achievement. If he says yes, that supersedes all other plans. It’ll just be a case of wrong place, wrong time, for Cody and many of us. Hope I’m wrong.

I don’t really buy that SI article and won’t unless Gunther wins the Rumble which would genuinely shock me and make me think they actually have sources because no one else has been calling that. Punk and Cody have been the logical choices for most people.
The Seth-Gunther promo seemed like a very basic misdirect to me. I didn’t take that to mean they will be opponents at Mania. In the past month Raw alone has had promo segments with Cody v Punk, Seth v Punk, Seth v Gunther, Cody v Drew and Punk v Drew. All of these matches will likely happen at some point but they obviously can’t all happen at this Mania. Until proven otherwise I still think it will be Punk/Seth and not Gunther/Seth.
As for Rock the thing I don’t get is if that was happening is he winning the Rumble? A chamber? Just being handed the match? In kayfabe I don’t think there’s any way you can just randomly say Rock is getting a title shot. Any other PPV sure but in kayfabe people fight all year then go through Rumbles and/or chambers to earn the title match at Mania. Rock would come off like a heel waltzing in and taking the spot. In 2012 he beat the top guy clean non-title then beat the champ to win the title before Mania so in story he had earned the spot in the ring. Like the Gunther thing I’m not going to buy it until it’s official on TV. I’m still predicting Roman v Cody and Seth v Punk for this Mania. If/when Rock/Roman happens I don’t think it will be for the title.

Not trying to be a downer or even say it isn't gonna happen, but aside from fans saying Cody HAS to win at Mania, has there really been anything creatively showing that that's the plan?

"Where does this leave Cody Rhodes? Multiple sources close to WWE Head of Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque have indicated that Rhodes will not headline this year’s event, nor will he “finish his story” at WrestleMania. But there is still a new chapter to write with a marquee matchup to be had… against CM Punk." Exactly. WWE has been pretty clear that they’re building toward Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns and CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins for each brand’s world championship at WrestleMania. And less than three months out from the show, they’re going to do … neither? That just feels like WWE feeding SI intentionally misleading information or using it as a “break glass in case of emergency” if Seth Rollins’ injury were more severe than what’s been reported.

You’d think they’d build the entirety of WWE 2K24’s ad campaign around Cody and finishing the story if he wasn’t gonna do it at all?

Not trying to be a downer or even say it isn't gonna happen, but aside from fans saying Cody HAS to win at Mania, has there really been anything creatively showing that that's the plan? Recently they haven't, the last time Cody interacted with the Bloodline was a random run-in on Smackdown in November where Cody came to the aid of LA Knight against Solo & Jimmy. Before that, Cody and Roman had a staredown a month prior on Smackdown with Nick Aldis stepping in between them. So I'd like to see Cody/Roman 2 as I feel it would be the better match but I can see WWE wanting to get this Rock/Roman match out of their system first as Rock isn't getting any younger.

“I'm a Rock fan. I don't think he's the type that would come in and meddle with a story that's been being told over the past two years.
I think he's probably up to something else, but you never know with WWE. I'll be watching just like everybody else”

Our options here are either they’re really not doing Cody and Roman at Mania, or they’re just working that angle of it to build anxiety by planting stories. I hate both of these options.

I’m kinda curious what the crowd reaction for Rock would be if it does end up being Rock/Roman. I’m talking about the actual WM crowd which is usually on the smarky side.

Think it depends on how the feud is played out. If rock keeps doing his tired act, I could see people leaning towards Roman and his 😂-like vibe. If he acknowledges his age..and Roman plays up his desperate need to remain the “Head of The Table”…could see people sympathizing with Rock. It’s all up in the air though. Him usurping Cody could have a backlash, but I don’t see it with the WWE main crowd

I'm gonna laugh when Rock doesn't ever end up having a match and just refs the cody/roman match or is involved in hyping everyone up somehow.
Cody is taking that title off Roman at WM baby. Not only is he taking that title, he will introduce the backflip crossrhodes.

I get how frustrating it is. It feels like despite everything that's happened in the last year and a half, nobody believes this company has changed from the worst of Vince's impulses. But they're fighting the weight of their own history here. A history that includes this exact matchup where they took an ending that people were expecting to cement that they may be a different company now, and didn't go with it. Even if Rhodes does get the rematch here and wins, I don't expect it to fully go away because there's always going to be people that will doubt the story direction or simply like someone else that isn't getting that same big push to the world title. But I'm right with you. They were a "different company" to me once the Theory Experiment died. There's a contingency of WWE fans out there who; even if Okada debuted and beat Seth or Gunther in a 25 minute classic for the world title and feuded with CM Punk, Cody reigning as the man and more serious competition than ever with FTR resigned and they just have great tag matches week in and week out and the women's divison got at least one hour of TV time each week and they left Saudi Arabia forever with Cena doing a farewell tongue-in-cheek "heel run", they would still see the famous clip of Vince laughing evilly when they think of the promotion. Well, this is for them. Today I'm here to show why you should Believe In Uncle Hunter. Is that supposed to be the ideal? That mostly sounds awful. It is kinda interesting though as I feel they've improved on and off screen from 2019/20's rock bottom but a long way from what I'd enjoy, makes me wonder what would make me think things have changed. Then what would drag me back. You're right ending sports washing would be one as would honouring contracts. I'm not sure about onscreen. There'd have to be a sustained period without heel dominance or part time champions.
