I think you run a real risk of even Roman fans starting to turn against that title reign. Honestly I think last night kind of showed how past it it is at this point. You can dismiss the crowd's by and large disinterest in the match due to it coming after the first Rumble, but they WERE reacting at points, especially toward the end, only to just go dead silent when Roman won. There's still the energy in it for a handful of more BIG matches I guess but in terms of filler defenses no one gives a shit anymore.

Roman's stuff is just forgone conclusion matches now. There's ultimately no tension and investment in non-Wrestlemania matches (except against extraordinarily strong babyfaces like Zayn) because you know he's not losing. Roman in tag bouts with Solo was the closest to real drama because there was a real question about whether he'd win or not. The screwjob finish at the recent Summerslam was more or less a signal to the audience that there's no point in caring about his stuff till Mania 40.

Glad Cody won.
Difficult not to worry they could have a wobble with it and change plans, but if Cody's run last year was defying the usual trajectory after losing a huge match, it'd cut him off at the knees even worse if he'd failed here.

We badly need a ‘no interference’ rule for the Mania match. Aldis looks like the type of GM that could make that happen. They won’t though just to add the intrigue as to whether Cody can fight off Solo this time or not. He could ban Heyman, Jimmy and Solo however that could mean someone else shows up

I thought Punk would win then Cody would win a chamber. It wasn't until the last couple of minutes my mind changed. When Punk started acting desperate/heelish and especially "I didn't come back to lose to Dusty's kid" is when I realized oh Cody's winning.
With him pointing at Roman is this the first time ever when there's been 2 world titles that the Rumble went off air already confirming which champ the winner is facing at Mania? Even if the choice is obvious/logical normally they would still go through with the charade of making you wait for Raw for the winner to confirm in a promo but here they just let you know already.

It would be a very WWE thing to make it a three way between Rock Cody and Roman

I think Cody finally wins the title with Rock helping eliminate the Bloodline interference. They clearly want Roman/Rock and that’s only happening at WM, so with Cody winning the Rumble and challenging Roman, they are likely setting up the Rock match for WM 41.

So according to Meltzer Bron was slotted into exactly what they were going to do with Brock since the match was already plotted out. So I guess Dom was supposed to toss Brock?

But seriously tho: exactly WHY did people think the rock was gonna be in the rumble? Nothing ever indicated it was even a possibility and I know for damn sure it couldn't have been that retracted sports illustrated story Mostly because of that promo he cut the other week. Seems odd to have him call out Roman if they're not capitalizing on it any time soon. A long game to build a Rock match wouldn’t be without precedent for him or the company judging how they delayed his first Cena match well past a calendar year, so Rock/Roman on either the Netflix debut or WM41 wouldn’t shock me in the slightest. Again, if Rock can go now, I’d prefer him in the match sooner than later, but IMO a story of Roman challenging Rock after he’s lost the title to Cody in order to reclaim some of his lost pride feels more likely at the moment.

I know Rock’s expressed his desire to do the match at WM, but the match happening on the first Netflix Raw would be very plausible, if only for being the type of major stunt to do for that sort of event

I'm 100% confident that if Cody wins the belt from Roman then at some point, probably SummerSlam, he's getting Gunthered. Best case scenario and I will enjoy that. As for the winner, and match, it's fine. I was bored by the end of it, and was like "will one of you just win already?!" That's more for not caring about either one, it was like the "opposite Bayley effect". I just hope we don’t run right from one dominant never ending reign to the other wether it’s Cody or Gunther

I'm so happy Cody won. Could have gone to either guy but I'm happy WWE did the safe route and had him win again. That staredown with Roman at the end of the show was awesome! Now he better win, and I think he is. Hopefully WWE doesn't try to be cute like they did last year. It's going to be awesome if WWE does the right thing this year and have Cody "finish the story". Then the all the bullshit doom-posting, LOL Cody, "Bitchhalla" will all be gone. I can't wait!

They could easily have Rock come out to fend off Jimmy and Solo at WM, and give Cody a clear shot at winning. Maybe even raise his hand after the match. I feel like that's where it's headed. Sort of ONCE IN A LIFETIME done far better.

Cody HAS to win otherwise what’s the point in doing the rematch. If he doesn’t then he’s condemned to Bitchalla for all eternity. Rock vs Roman doesn’t need the title, the Tribal Chief status is big enough. I disagree. Roman's Tribal Chiefness is so entwined with him being the champion. If Cody beat him, he is done. His run has become so stale and boring, the only thing to keep us interested in him is ending his title run.

We haven’t seen a titleless Tribal Chief and seeing that version of him become so desperate that he goes after the Rock would be interesting.

Guess there were plans for Beastie Boy to make Dirty Dom cry for his Mami at either Elimination Chamber or 'mania. I'm sure that now Lesnar is history in the WWE, that Bron is more than capable of throwing Dom all over Perth or Philly, and that should be a fine way to introduce him to the main roster.
