As much as we all despise his run there, I think there is a solid argument to be made, especially now that we are post-Vince. If he is serious about staying retired, the best thing is to use his image for merchandising and video games, and to use him for PR work like the convention circuit or commentary for documentaries. And WWE just has a larger, better managed, more well connected machine for those purposes than AEW. Part of me absolutely shudders at the idea but it feels like there is no way around it.

I want to see him back just to get him back in games, and Ultimate Sting figures.

Apparently he's still under contract with AEW even though he's retired in-ring. He might do a Legends deal once that's done, but Sting is also the kind of guy who has enough money, name recognition, and connections where he doesn't really need the WWE machine for public appearances or conventions if he wants to do those.
Though WWE apparently not letting AEW use any of his WCW stuff for his retirement video packages probably didn't endear the company to the guy.

I'd love to have him in video games again, but not if it means tarnishing his legend.

He's done conventions since WCW folded, has been in multiple video games, and has merch through PWTees so he's not hurting in any of those areas. With how little WWE does with their library these days, he'd be better off doing the podcast thing like Taker does if he really wants to be heard.
I think only thing WWE could tempt him with is inducting Lex into the Hall and I honestly think TK would okay that.

Has to be said, the last time Sting was under WWE contract post-first retirement he did exactly zero on air appearances and a bunch of side cameos at conventions so unless they actually want to push the boat out about how significant Sting was with the footage they have, there's no real reason for him to go that way.
As Ed said, only time we'd see him in WWE is if they want him to induct Lex which, frankly, he's the best guy to induct him. Flair at a push but Sting and Luger have a gigantic amount of history together.

I was surprised to hear about TNA because I'd say they'd have zero issue doing it considering how much TNA's social media promoted the hell out of it throughout the week (and Anthem probably could have used the cash and good PR right now) but there was no world where WWE was going to give them the footage. "But eJm, AEW let Jericho go on Austin's podcast and Danielson and Jericho appear on Raw that one time". All true, but WWE isn't exactly a company that returns favors well if at all. Ask PROGRESS why their co-founder is now in WWE's developmental system. EDIT: In terms of footage, it was a coup enough to have prime Sting footage from New Japan where they have him facing The Giant, the Road Warriors and freaking Inoki. As much as other stuff would be good, that isn't exactly nothing either.

I think he’ll stay in AEW, but man do I wish we could get a Sting/Undertaker face to face(not a match).

I'm sure the guy in charge now has a lot more respect for Sting than Vince did—

I'm sure the guy in charge now has a lot more respect for Sting than Vince did— The worst thing about it is they had Sting shake HHH's hand after, even though HHH cheated his ass off to win.
