Hitting Jose Lothario with a tv camera and powerbombing his son backstage. Should have been inducted into the hall of fame then and there. THIS Sid is responsible for the greatest thread in the history of this sport Board.

SID is one my favorites. Not a very good wrestler or promo but unbelievable look, aura, charisma, and ring presence.
There’s a reason that everywhere that he goes he’s over as hell. Dude could have shown up in prime workrate era ROH and had the fans going apeshit and wanting to see him wrecks one fools. He could probably show up in AEW tomorrow and have the crowd going wild. lol
He’s a guy that doesn’t really get the love that he deserves a lot of the time.

2012 Sid sill looked like a threat too. Sid vs. Punk in 2011 would've been so much better than Nash. I really think this is a stretch. Nash was a more coherent promo from 1996 onwards than Sid ever was and neither could wrestle for shit.

One of the most underrated Sid stories is that if the WCW backstage crew had listed to him. The Shockmaster incident could have been prevented.

One of the most underrated Sid stories is that if WCW backstage crew had listed to him. The Shockmaster incident could have been prevented. The Shockmaster falls and loses his helmet. Bulldog pisses himself laughing, Sting giggles, Flair swears and looks pissed off, the entire thing is falling apart, and in the middle of all of this, Sid is treating the Shockmaster like an existential threat to his heel team. He completely refuses to break character and that's the bit that cracks me up for good.

Sid runs a landscaping company in Arkansas and as a home depot employee, I believe if you know about landscaping you know about building materials. So Sid probably knew the Shockmaster drywall entrance would not work. Dusty told it as there was a 2x4 stud on the floor of the drywall that Fred tripped over. Fred tells it like it was just him trying to push through the drywall with his full force. Either way, it should have been the same result. But ultimately, Fred embraces it and is so much more memorable than any of the other silly gimmicks WCW brought in, in 93 and the next few years.
The whole Flair gold segment is so perfect in so many ways. As a kid (age 9) watching it, I had no idea this was a huge botch. I thought Shockmaster was awesome. Even when WCW tried to present him as a goof, I thought he was a main eventer. I saw the Starrcade PPV at a friends house and thought the Shockmaster/Kong match should have been hire on the card.

Sid has said that earlier that day when they were going through the rehearsal and saw the 2x4. He told the production crew that it should be removed as there was a good chance that Fred could trip over it. Only for them to ignore him. And the rest is history.

Sid's "I told you" is probably the best part. That one Shockmaster segment of the Clash probably sums up WCW's entire run. Just about everyone's reaction is priceless.

He completely refuses to break character and that's the bit that cracks me up for good. Was Flair even present? I could have sworn he and Fifi the Maid left. What makes the whole thing worse is Ole is late getting on the mic, leaving about 10 to 15 seconds of awkwardness to happen. Other nitpicks I always had was that they clearly didn't plan the segment well considering before Shockmaster comes out, they're all talking randomly (this isn't new territory for wrestling, but regardless) and Sting is forced to loudly interject to get his one line in beforehand. But what makes it even worse is how everyone is standing facing away from the camera, and most people present can't be seen. Bulldog's robe thingy envelops all of Sting other than about half of Sting's face. Say what you will, but at least WWF at the time knew how to film segments where you got all your characters in the frame while facing the camera. The Shockmaster segment has so many issues going on, outside of Fred Ottman falling. Sid is awesome though. I never understood why people said he was a bad promo. Other than "We're live, pal", I don't know of another promo where he botched. "Half the brains" was scripted to be like that, especially since Nash had been proclaiming Sid to be stupid. Sid might butcher a word, but never a promo. I think it was Alvarez who pointed out that Sid's delivery of a promo was always delivered with conviction in whatever he said, so making a mistake with a word played into how frustrated he sounded, whereas a promo delivered in the Ruthless Aggression era, you'd have guys who delivered their lines without any mistakes, but there was no emotion or drive behind what they were saying. Say what you will, but I'd rather someone cut a promo sounding like the Tasmanian Devil over someone who sounds like the Hal 9000.

You can hear Flair saying something like "Oh for f***s sake" on the audio. Before he died, Patrice O'Neal did a lengthy interview going over every single bit of The Shockmaster debut which he thought was the funniest thing of all time. Agreed on Sid's promos, btw. Besides, he makes you believe he is that monster, so what is the odd fluffed word. Jaws never speaks, he's still one of the best Bond bad guys.

Sid is one of my boys. I think he was brilliant to watch. Whilst I agree that he wasn't the best wrestler in the world I do think he's a little better than some give him credit for.
And, of course, the theme song he had was epic.

Sid may be the ultimate case of a guy that just has SOMETHING that I just can’t explain. Not a great worker, a headache backstage, could be a mess on the mic… but he had an undeniable star quality. I consider him one of my favorite wrestlers ever, but I can’t think of one of his matches that I actually love love. Plus he’s the first person I can think of that I ever saw doing fist bumps.

If Sid wasn’t so busy with softball he’d accept a Hall Of Fame induction

I know it is kind of a joke, but I really respect Sid drawing a line with WWF and WCW regarding his love of playng softball. He flat out told the two biggest wrestling companies to work around his softball schedule. Dude knew his worth.
If you love something do it. Wrestling was just a job for him. He understood life is more than work/wrestling, and you should be allowed time off to enjoy it.

Recently watched Sid complete turning heel on Hogan at a SNME and he was f***ing brilliant. The look of "this motherf***er" as Hogan tags himself in and grandstands, shortarms more and more as Hogan tries to tag back out before someone stops him and when it's clear Hogan will make the tag unimpeded, he doesn't even stick his arm out and jumps off the apron.
I love the interview beforehand where Mooney's talking to Sid, Sid goes to speak and Mooney just turns straight around to speak to Hogan. The look of Sid just trying to compose himself to not just kill everybody in that room then and there.
