He held the title for nearly a year, and got to main event Mania with The Rock. I'd say he's fine

Also, Seth has been working hurt for a while so if anything, this made me look more human. I don't think it'll negatively affect him.

this is the part that people won't talk about but I am completely certain is the story here roman couldn't get over the sins of the past and it ended up dooming him. i see what they're cooking and i f***ing love it God, I wish WWE had access to Mox because I would love if he just appeared to tell them to cut it out, Cosgrove style. you and me both big homie, a part of me completely suspended reality thinking mox was headed out there

It can both be true that Roman being unable to resist kicking Seth's ass is a great callback and also objectively hilarious.

It was a nice change of expectation given everybody before (and after) ran wild for a bit. Not everyone is a bitch, it's probably more of a babyface move to still try to help after losing your title and wrestling two matches in less 24 hours. Like I don't see the dork thing unless you are purposefully want to make someone look terrible (which whatever)

Roman lost because he still couldn’t get over Seth betraying him all those years ago. Yup, once he hit him in the back like what happened to him, it was exactly where I thought they were going with it.

Honestly? I think the producer just missed a moment. We were supposed to see Seth sneaking up on Rock before Roman took him out. What we got was just almost comical with Seth getting killed within a moment of being on screen. I think that was the most "goober" moment of any of the stuff people have called out as "goober stuff"
Seth told Cody he'd be his Shield. This is what he meant. There's one guy that Roman hates more than anyone in the world and it was Seth. It's just some babyface 101 shit and it gives Seth justification for a heel turn at some point down the line.
I wouldn't be surprised in the least if next year you got Seth/Cody and Roman/Rock as your main events.

I'm wondering if they were planning more but his knee was just too effed to justify it. Considering he had Sami and Owens helping him just to navigate the ring afterwards, ... but it also benefited the story, I think, with him promising to be Cody's shield and then being the reason Roman lost. I don't know.

I feel bad for Roman. If he'd dealt with the trauma of Seth's betrayal at the time, he might not be so untrusting and power-hungry now

Seth took the tag match when he didn’t need to, knowing it would hurt him in his title match. He lost his title and still went out there to help Cody, and took two bullets for him. If he wasn’t there to take that chair shot, that bad boy is coming for Cody.
The man is a damn hero.

He held the title for nearly a year, and got to main event Mania with The Rock. I'd say he's fine Quite. They literally went out of their way to put Seth in the middle of the Rock-Roman-Cody storyline, when no-one would've minded if his job this weekend was losing to Drew and moving on. He was beating The Rock all over Philly yesterday, kicked out of half a dozen Claymore kicks, cost Roman the title and then was the last person to interact with Cody before they went off air. Like, they're obsessed with this guy.

Roman lost because he still couldn’t get over Seth betraying him all those years ago. Yeah Seth said he’d be Cody’s shield. He sacrificed himself for him. He was literally was done after his first match earlier in the night. He was pure eye candy distraction for Roman like you said.

I feel bad for Roman. If he'd dealt with the trauma of Seth's betrayal at the time, he might not be so untrusting and power-hungry now Bingo. That’s the story right there. He prioritized revenge on Seth over keeping his title because he’s still consumed with anger over his betrayal all these years later. And it’s that trauma from the betrayal that caused him to rule the Bloodline with an iron fist because he never wanted to feel that again. He needed to maintain total control. Really, it was a terrific ending to the match.

Honestly I'm just happy to see Seth get to be so involved in the top stories this weekend. Whether people like him or not(I've been back and forth on him for years) dude's worked his ass off for that company for so long.

They laid it out in that “I’ll be your shield” promo when they first agreed to team and I don’t think we even realized it at the time.
All those people Roman beat during this title reign. Cena. Brock. Cody. Bray. Sami. Jey. Edge. Bryan. Etc etc. The only person he couldn’t beat in a title match was Seth. Seth won by DQ because Roman lost his composure like he always does with Seth because he’s never gotten over that night in 2014. Then again tonight he couldn’t resist taking the chair to Seth’s back when maybe he could have focused on finishing Cody first.
Perfect end to the Cody-Seth arc and I hope we never get Seth turning on him down the line.
If Roman and Seth retire around the same time surely they have to be each others best choice for final opponent when the time comes.
