It would be more out of character for Ospreay NOT to respond like that.

I'm ok with people rolling their eyes at both Ospreay and HHH, but I just think HHH was worse because he's an executive in the company saying this shit. Not a smart way to try to sell people on working for you.

The only comparison I really have is TNA at it's 1.1 height and my memory of the TNA board (which definitely could be mis-remembered at this point) is the vast majority of people making fun of the product, whether it went as far as "shitting on the product" I can't recall. Tbh my main memory is the 1.1 gif Jesus debuts = 1.1 etc. Somebody will have it saved I'm sure.

I think they both 'always be working.'
When it comes down to it at some point in the future, they'll talk again.
It's all just face saving bullshit for now.

I doubt WWE will ever be as flexible for some talent as AEW is. They are never going to pay big money for guys to work a super light schedule when they have/need talent working multiple shows a week. Unless you are an established megastar.

IDK if they would hold up but it always makes me so sad that the series this gif is from got taken down, I remember the TNA Remix videos being hilarious.

Thatâs another issue with HHHâs quote is, like, you can say itâs face saving but there isnât a world where, even if WWE were to look into him further the next time talks will come up, they accommodate that. Itâs not in their DNA and I donât think TKO is that interested in that either. And again, way better ways of saying it than âthey canât accommodate what we want so theyâre bitchesâ. And yeah, itâs different for Roman but I donât think most talent have threats of a return of Leukemia to hinder any plans like he does.

Yeah...I can't blame Will for clapping back to Hunter. It is ridiculous and beyond disingenuous for Hunter to even bury him for not grinding enough because he didn't want to sign with WWE.
"Just grind enough to a point that you can marry your boss' daughter uhhhh. It's that easy uhhhhh."
Give me a f***ing break đ€Łđ

It just seems like an even worse move to try to save face when one thing people would like to see, ESPECIALLY with all the "VINCE IS GONE!!!" signalling they did WM weekend, is for WWE to actually start accepting Ls when they take them, and show they don't have to be MACHO BULLSHIT 24/7 anymore.

It wouldnât even be taking Ls, just big up who you do have. Talk about Cody, talk about Jade, talk about Noami, talk about Shawn Spears, all four doing stuff at WrestleMania weekend, your recent NXT call ups like Tiffany Stratton, your NIL recruits, f***ing big up Lexie King if you run out of names somehow. Turn the question on its head and talk about the people you have instead of whining about those you donât.

It wasnât a great quote when you need to recruit more people in the future, but he also didnât name anyone in the quote. Youâd have to be pretty inside baseball to even know he was talking about Will Ospreay (heck I didnât even think of him the first time I read it).

They also just added Tama Tonga and (allegedly, unless itâs confirmed and I missed it) Jacob Fatu. Theyâre not exactly struggling to add significant talent. Itâs why I said no one looks good in this. Triple H looks like an over sensitive dipshit who got his feelings hurt by someone choosing to work somewhere else despite a hugely successful Wrestlemania weekend and several recent major talent acquisitions. Ospreay looks like an over sensitive dipshit who got his feelings hurt by a comment from a guy in a place he chose not to work at.

Even so, one of those âover sensitive dipshitsâ as you said they were is the vice president of talent relations and head of creative. It overrides any sense that theyâre equal causes. One guy you can blow off as disgruntled as a response even though he never said anything bad about WWE and the other is literally one of the most powerful figures in professional wrestling and automatically should know better.

Thing is, I wouldn't have even been aware of Triple H's comment if not for Ospreay's response, and I even follow WWE more closely than I do AEW. None of this does either of them or their respective companies any good. Triple H looks completely unprofessional in an executive role and shows some of the personality that likely endeared him to Vince and Ospreay just looks kinda silly making a remark that got old well over a decade ago to address a company that he chose to not work for. I would understand it better if he'd wanted to go to WWE and they turned him down, at least then there would be some understandable emotion behind it. Triple H comes off as a whiny bitch, which isn't a good look for an executive, and Ospreay comes off as every stereotype of an indie wrestling nerd from at least 15 years ago, which isn't a good look for someone who's supposed to be a headliner in a viable #2 company that's looking to grow and challenge for the top spot (we saw TNA try it over and over again and it was always cringey.) The whole thing could have been avoided if Triple H kept his mouth shut as he should have, but I have nothing positive to say about either.

It isnât his defining character trait (as far as we know and hopefully not) and you could take it out of the promo and get the same effect of him feuding with Danielson. So to try and compare it to TNA sort of feels like weâre trying a like for like thing that hasnât been established. Like, that feels like making a bigger deal out of it than it actually was even if it was mistimed. At the end of the day, especially with what we know about Ospreayâs reasoning for wanting his family to stay, I canât say I approve of it but I also canât blame him for doing it. Itâs sort of an understandable reaction to a guy basically puffing his chest out in front of Pat McAfee for the biggest weekend of the year for no other reason than to remind us the company still has the same inner core even if the outer core has had a lot of changes. Especially the amount of times WWE talked about AEW throughout WrestleMania weekend, which wasnât a lot but it really should have been zero.

Right if this was like TNA, Ospreay would've just pulled it out of the ether unprovoked as WWE goes along its merry way ignoring them. This is a lot more like the back-and-forth between WWF and WCW (well, a bit tamer than that, really. We haven't gotten any "Eric Bischoff spoils pretaped Raws" or "Billionaire Ted" moments yet from either company).
