Why is Roddy vs Kyle so damn rushed?

So Kyle has been back for two minutes, has interacted with the UK a couple of times, Roddy has already turned on him…and now they’re going to fight for the title next week??

Why have we fast forwarded like three months of angle to get to this point so soon? I get there’s a PPV but they couldn’t have built this up until the next one or at least a main event of Dynamite sometime down the road?

I can't envision ever remotely caring about a Roddy vs. Kyle feud anyway so if you're going to do it by all means be quick about it.

Kyle came back at the last PPV. Like most wrestling angles, a status quo (Kyle is friendly with UK but not a member of them) was established via multiple matches and segments and then broken (with Roddy attacking Kyle) in order to set up a match.

That's. About as much substance as a longer angle would have had. The only reasons to draw out an angle are to stall for a PPV cycle, or to get more material out of the status quo, and this angle was tapped of new material for that status quo after like three shows.

I imagine part of it might also just be in, like... Nobody wants Roddy as champion. Nobody. It was stupid when they started building it, it was stupid when they did it, it's stupid now. Meanwhile TK has some weird fixation on trying to make Kyle a top guy. So might as well kill two birds with one stone and hurry up and give Kyle the belt to see if it improves both he and the title's standing.

I'm kind of confused, most people get really upset when storylines are dragged out in AEW. I cannot imagine many people actually would have WANTED this storyline to drag out needlessly, because I remember people didn't like when Roddy's last feud with Orange did. Imo it really feels like they learned from that and now they have a whole week to heat this up further, three shows worth to do so.

Idk if it ends even past Dynasty but imo this was the right move.

The turn felt a little bit out of nowhere but equally in storyline Kyle's been rebuffing the UK's advances since the last PPV, how much longer would heels usually wait before attacking someone when they've made ir clear they don't want to join you.

Personally think both guys are f***ing great in their own way so I'm glad we're getting it even if others aren't.

Wouldn't mind some version of the UK going on a Trios title run tbh if Roddy drops the belt here.

i think it is a better idea, either drop the International and ROH Tag titles if you need to but finish up the acclaimed/BCG thing finally and get those trios titles moving again

I am cool with it having happened, Orange Cassidy as champion was totally tapped, but yeah, I'd be totally cool with him losing it to Kyle, or really, quite a few people at this point. Roddy got the belt, good for Roddy, give it to someone people are more invested in now.

The whole UK thing has been a dud so far.

Roddy as champion was fine, he was a fine champion for Orange to lose to given the story and UK needed some kind of boost and it's helped

But if he has a quicker reign it'd be good because not every AEW Title reign needs to go a long time. Now will Kyle win it? Idk, I really feel like the match could have shenanigans so we'll see

I do think there's merit to Kyle being a top guy, character wise he's got an endearing quirk about him right now that doesn't feel tryhard like Cool Kyle was, and in ring he's a beast, if he stays healthy I think he can be great and you might as well give him a belt now and see if he can hold up to the test as a whole.

And it's not like Roddy vs. Kyle is some marquee obvious PPV megadraw that needs to be built up and really capitalized on. It's Roddy vs. Kyle. The only meaningful anything they had was a tag team title run on the show Dynamite beat head to head in the ratings. This isn't a huge program.

I cannot think of a program in AEW I care about less than Roddy/Kyle. Roddy is a great wrestler but is ice cold right now and I really have never given a shit about Kyle as anything other than a tag/trios guy. The sooner they get this done with, the better.

They couldve had the Kingdom lose the ROH tag title to the Infantry but I guess they will wait for Anthony Henry to get cleared so Kingdom puts over the Workhorsemen.
