The Butterfly Effect Was mainly for Ashton Kutcher but I thought he was okay in the role... I completely agree... I thought the movie would be pretty bad when I first heard about it. After it had come out on DVD, a friend was raving about it and let me borrow it. While the plot holes are huge and gaping, I thought the whole idea and presentation was excellent, while Ashton did a good job separating his different identities depending on the changes. I still pop it in now and again. Suicide Kings - I can't even say I've heard people talk about it, because when i bring it up I just get blank stares. Excellent movie (mostly due to Christopher Walken, Denis Leary, and that one guy from Roseanne's performances)... Road Trip - Shallow road trip movie, but man, I still watch it from time to time. I think it has to do with some odd fascination with Amy Smart, but critics hated it. I was going to list Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, but it actually has a 72% Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.com (which is pretty good for the site)... Looking it up, Roger Ebert actually gave it 3 out of 4 stars... Wow... More shocked than when I heard the Rundown got two thumbs up on Ebert & Roeper...

Wait... didn't that win Best Picture? To the chagrin of all the critics that gave Brokeback Mountain at least ***1/2, which I thought was ok but the quality of the film decreasednear the end. Yeah, but Crash got a 75% (76% Cream-of-the-crop) on Rotten Tomatoes. I wouldn't call that badly reviewed. That's still fresh. I like Crash to though, but I can't watch it but so much. I'm getting so tired of always hearing so much junk about race all the time. I feel like Rodney King sometimes "Can't we all just get along!".

Walken is crucial to it's success, I think. They could put that dude in the biggest turd of a movie ever and I'd go see it.

Most of John Candy's movies get the crap treatment, but the majority of the "bad" ones are pretty funny.
"The Great Outdoors" is one of those films. I don't care for Dan Ackroyd, but he added so much to this movie.
(John waterskiing) "You bastard!" (Dan) "What did he say? (John waterskiing) "You bastard!" (John's wife) "Faster!" (Dan's wife) "Go faster!"

And probably #1 for me for this topic ... The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane. Jed Shaffer ~Jethro Tull's NOT one of the Beverly Hillbillies? And I thought I was the ONLY person around here that liked that film. Damn.[/Ron Simmons] Anyway, one movie that hasn't been mentioned that I love and quote all the time is this one.

The best comedy in years and it gets less than 20% on Rotten Tomato?!
What the hell is up with that?

Pretty much a lot of the horror movies I'm a fan of ended up getting terrible reviews, mostly because they were ahead of their time.
Big Trouble In Little China was not that well received from what I remember, and it's one of my favorite movies of all time.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Every magazine review I saw of it said it was 1 * horrible, yet I adored it.

Was Home Alone critically panned? If so i vote for that, and Home Alone 2.
Lost World is another one, i loved that movie. Batman Forever too.
Ah, thank god i was a youngun when those films came out.

Maybe those reviewers read the Alan Moore book. I don't blame them. Yeah League... Ahhh... I'm glad someone enjoyed it though. And I am being serious. What I think is funny about LEAGUE is the insane nonsense with the film's production. FOX demanded the American character Tom Sawyer included, so to get some Yankee for the Americans to relate to. So you may ask, whats wrong with that? How many decades and movies has the very British JAMES BOND been in that have made a crapload of money? 40 years and 20+ movies? Opps. Besides, that film tries to have this whole idea of Dorien Gray going from ally to traitor....why not simply have him as a baddie from the outset? I wasn't surprised or taken back that he was the backstabber. I saw through it. I mean, the idea of an immortal baddie is not bad. Plus......this is what the audience and even the heroes ask themselves: How do you defeat a person that can't be killed?* *=That said, remember that whole deal that if Gray saw his portrait, he would die? Then how the hell did he take it down without looking at it? OK, maybe he would hire henchmen, but what if instead the only way Gray could be killed, like in the novel, was by damage to the painting itself? Gray survives blades, gunfire, being beaten to death, insane crap...and he is undone and killed when Sawyer lights his portrait on fire, which of course Gray turns into extra crispy.

HOME ALONE? nah. It was a hit with everyone. But HOME ALONE 2? Critics took their knives out and sharpened them.

RRA don't forget that League almost singlehandedly made Sean Connery retire.

RRA don't forget that League almost singlehandedly made Sean Connery retire. Considering that Connery took over that movie from the director, I can't feel sorry for him, or care. Besides, Connery probably saw Newman and Hackman retired and figures...."why deal with this s*** again?"

And the total screw up of a production that the movie was is easy to blame.
