Yep, the media fanfare has arrived and David Beckham is going to hit america! He's even on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
That being said will you actually watch the match? Do you care about the free-kick specialist? Is his wife more interesting or would you rather bury your head in the sand and hope it all goes away very quickly.

I couldn't care less about David Beckham in America. This is another attempt to try and make soccer popular here in the States and, IMO, it won't work.

Wait, is his team playing Chelsea in a friendly or something? Yes, Chelsea are on tour in America and they will face LA Galaxy. It will be a media circus.

Yeah, I'll watch it... I'm up for anything to divert away from the relentless Premiership bore-a-thon.

Meh, I hate the whole Beckham bandwagon.
He was a great player until they began to hype him like he was the second coming of Maradona. Then he has become a media phenomenon and little more...
The move to MLS is a merely publicity gimmick and has little to do with actual soccer. Beckham and his useless wife will make a crapload of money but he won't amount to much on the field. He may be head and shoulders above the average level of the MLS players, but who cares?
Even if he wins the Championship, being the Top Scorer, MVP and best average rating etc, what will it add to his resumè and to MSL as a whole?
Would a top NFL quarterback playing in NFL Europe have saved the league from its demise due to massive lack of interest?

MLS is such a borefest Yes I see the irony as I proudly support a struggling league 1 club. Hey, you support an udnerdog team, I supprot an underdog team! High five! Beckham is good, but he is over his peak, and overrated. Don't give a shit about American soccer, don't give a hsit abotu Chelsea, so I won't be watching. Oh, and real football= English football. We invented it before 'American' football, so therefore football is football, not soccer. And American football is American football/gridiron, not 'real football'.

I might watch, probably just so when I make fun of soccer to my friend who likes soccer alot. So I have some example of why it not as good and any other "American" Sport. Either way untell the USA wins the World Cup I probably wont care about soccer. I watched and got into it and we still werent very good.

I might do, but then again, I might not. Chelsea does not equal entertainment.

I might do, but then again, I might not. Chelsea does not equal entertainment. I strongly disagree. ;D I don't really know what my opinion on Beckham is, I mean in America you are much more fond of the NFL than soccer, and I can't really see him changing that at all. The sales will be good for the first few games but then they will probrably start to drop since he's just one player, and a whole team is needed to win. Which obviously means I voted C'mon Chelsea.

I think there will be an initial spike, but Soccer/Futbol/whatever is not popular in the States and not even Pele could make it so. Soccer does not lend itself well to the American Sports Spectator and, while there likely will always be fans of the game, there will never be a strong enough contingency to support a league akin to MLB, NFL, or even NHL. Most American fans of soccer think very lowly of the MLS and consider it a joke, for the most part, and it'll take more than a media whore (and his talentless and tragically declining, formerly hot wife) to do it.
What I can see this doing, however, is possibly having a long-term effect. Beckham is basically a namebrand more than he is a player, and the league may view this as an opportunity to make top talent realize it's not the wasteland its made out to be. If the paychecks are nice enough and there's a jump in attendance, this could begin a situation were aging stars go out to pasture in the US with a fat paycheck and a half-hearted attempt to try and salvage a forever floundering league.
