Fetus, Nintendo may not intentionally be doing it, but the lack of real serious games for the Wii is pissing a lot of their fanbase off. I mean yes, trying to get new people into gaming is a good idea, and it is great that Nintendo is doing it, but they are focusing too much on it. Case in point, e3 this year. Their "big" press conference ending announcement? Wii Fit.....just another "game" that appeals to the masses.
I understand that it is sort of up to 3rd parties to make up for Nintendo's short comings, but guess what? THEY ARE! Konami has Dewey's Adventure, Grasshopper with No More Heroes, etc. Nintendo basically IGNORED showing their 3rd party titles(besides the Dragon Quest game from Square-Enix, Soul Calibur Legends, and Umbrella Chronicles) at e3.
The majority of us here want to see games that we want, and they showed us a few of them, but only a few. They could've had a much better show if they spent those 30 minutes showing of WiiFit, which the majority of those actually watching the press conference couldn't care 2 shits about.
What I'm trying to say is, Nintendo had a chance to prove to those doubting their 3rd party support wrong by showing all the 3rd party titles they currently have(which is a lot), but instead they decided to show more casual games to those who don't care.

I'm currently sticking with my last gen systems till 1 of 3 things happens:
1. Prices of all 3 systems drop to something affordable. (I only paid 50 bucks for my Gamecube and it was WELL worth it, I can't justify spending an entire month's worth of rent on a Ps3, unless Target or Walmart happens to have a Wii in stock on a day that I go, I won't own one anytime soon and while 360 is my current pick right now, unless Microsoft gets the bugs worked out, I'm not willing to shell out the cash to buy one. A 3 year warranty is a nice start, but it should work properly to begin with.
2. Prices of the games for the newer systems start dropping. I stand a firm believer of buying games only after they become greatest hits titles. For the price of 1 new game, I can buy 3 that have been out for a little longer. Besides, good things come to those who wait.
3. One of my current systems breaks down. My gamecube and Ps2 have both been very good to me, besides, adding another system is just going to add more clutter to a library that still has a ton of games that are waiting to be enjoyed all over again. In fact, I still keep my Super NES hooked up so I can play Super Mario World and Super Punch Out. That was a golden age of video games and will be sorely missed.

What's funny is, the Gamecube has as much graphical power, if not more, than the PS2. They just got kileld because there was no solid online missive, and their original games didn't deliver what they should have. Plus, it looked like a kid's toy. Actually, it was found that when comparing the specs of all 3 systems, the GameCube had 8% more graphical power than the Xbox, making the GameCube the strongest system graphically, only problem was, the only game to truly push the system was Resident Evil 4. But also, going on graphics, the Wii is 3x the strength of the Wii, and yet, its second generation titles(titles that begin to show around the 1 year mark of the system being out) only have the graphical polish of the Xbox. Granted I know the Wii is graphics < gameplay, but come on, give us something good to look at...I guess it is cheaper and easier to just make these first year GameCube-like games than it is to push the system's graphics. I agree with everything here except for one thing. Resident Evil 4 is not the only game to fully utilize the Gamecube hardware. Factor 5's Rogue Squadron games, particularly Rebel Strike, pushed the system to its limits. In fact, Rebel Strike was arguably the 'Cubes most advanced game. People tend to overlook that because the game sucked.

I didn't forgot about the Rogue Squardren games, it is just RE4 pushed it the most.

In another thread, I already made this point: E3 is NOT the place to show off new games. Saying that E3 is worth anything nowadays is a misconception. E3 stunk yet again this year, as it always does, in my opinion. Nowadays, casual gamers and such far outnumber the hardcore gamers, and Nintendo is taking their approach the way they need to. In the end, the bottom line is "How much money have we made?", or in Sony's case "How much money can we throw away?" E3 to me, is worthless. It's just an excuse to show off a video or two, or again, in Sony's case, "RIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACERRRRRRRRRRRR!" With Sony's little trick on discontinuing the 60GB PS3, they are only sealing their fate. They are preparing to make money in the short run, and not even bother to look ahead for the long run. Sony may have very, very deep pockets, but eventually, shareholders and such will start to realize this, and you'll be surprised how fast that Sony's gaming division wll bottom out. If it happened next week, I would seriously not be surprised. The wait for some on the Wii may be good, as they'll likely start releasing new colors soon, for more choice. I prever my white Wii, to match my DS perfectly. A black one and a pink one will likely be next, to match the Onyx and Pink DS systems. Microsoft needs to get their shit in line, especially with all of these problems, or they may find themselves wading deep into the gaming world's proverbial 'quicksand' along with the PS3, and the Dreamcast, among other systems. Nintendo is sitting definitely the best, if not for the Wii, than at least the DS, which if I remember correctly, is either leading in sales, or is a close second or third.

They said it on G4 to. It was mentioned something about a new chip they have that cost less, runs cooler, but does the same amount of wrok as the current one. ok cool i just want to make sure that the guy wasn't making it up. E3 2007: Sony Confirms PS3 Price Cut Only Temporary Sony Europe spoils surprise, America says it's true. By Patrick Klepek, 07/13/2007 UPDATE: As a follow-up to this announcement, we asked SCEA about how potential customers might feel ripped off, given the $499 phaseout. Here's what they told us: "We are offering the full-function 60GB PS3 for $100 less than the original price and we have ample supply to meet consumer needs for months. We think this is great news for the PlayStation fans. Throughout the remainder of the year, we will constantly be evaluating market conditions and will develop strategies to further meet the needs of consumers in this market." So their strategy is to once again create an artificial need for the system (like they did at launch by releasing like 300,000 systems) so that people will buy it but not know what to do with it. While i don't disagree with the strategy, esp. since they can't sell the system any other way at this point, it is kind of cheap. I mean, before people wanted the PS1 and PS2 because it was the best system available. Now they want the PS3 because they're making it seem like you won't get to own one at the best price. The timing of this announcement could not be more uncoincidental. Sony makes an announcement that they're slashing the price of PS3 by $100 just before E3 starts. This drives up sales of PS3's and steals Microsofts and Nintendo's thunder. Then, just as the show's ending, oops, well, it turns out that it's just a firesale so we can get repackage the PS3 with 20G more of memory and ome unsold copies of MotorStorm no one bought because it's not GT5. And people wonder why I think Sony is full of dicks.

That is all true, but casual fans, in other words Nintendo's target for games like WiiFit, don't even care for e3. E3 is for the companies to cater to their hardcore fans, and thus they should show off the hardcore titles. Also, they didn't have to show off new titles, just show new videos of No More Heroes, Dewey's Adventure, NiGHTS, other rather high profile 3rd party games.

Honstly I still say PS3 will get big once the price starts to drop. Then it will join the race again... year from now but still will get back in And then they'll be another year behind. Can they really afford to wait?

Also, keep in mind, it is the titles that sell mediocre that get discounted faster.

God, I'm using my Wii more and more to watch shows on the Internet Channel now.
I should've seen it coming: I'm going through a "video game burnout" phase. I'll have to pop Zelda back in after a few weeks to start feeling my oats.

This will be the first gen that I don't have a new system pretty much at launch. My PS2 was one of the first off the assembly line, same with my SNES, Genesis, SMS, etc.
But I just don't see the bang for the buck with these systems yet, with the exception of the Wii, maybe, but that's nowhere to be found in my area anyway.
