Sony: The Sega of this generation. started with 2 great consoles, now they're the more expensive, and less interesting console. That's the best way I've seen it put yet.

Please, All I am asking is that Sony survive this gen getting slaughtered but still alive so i t can learn from it´s mistakes.
I am tired of sony´s bullshit, but since they announced Wii, I looked at it and said: "Gimmick console. No thank you."
Yet, it´s the only option that doesn´t suck. I will not buy any system them...

Sony's in a difficult spot, as the Japanese market is being taken over by Nintendo (with a virtual monopoly in handhelds) and even if not in complete direct competition with Nintendo here in the states in regards to games, its locked in a virtual arms race with the likes of Microsoft.

How so? Nintendo is killing everyone. PS3's and Xbox's are actually selling equally.

The Wii is not in direct competition because it isn't a typical gaming system (as the PS3 and 360 are). If you do put them against each other though, Nintendo is absolutely murdering all of its competition on ALL FRONTS (handhelds, consoles, game sales, AND merchandising, like t-shirts.) It's not a shock.

How so? Nintendo is killing everyone. PS3's and Xbox's are actually selling equally. That's what I mean. PS3s best chance against the likes of Wii, would be to use their hardware and graphical power that the Wii can't match on games, but the 360's mere existence makes getting such exclusive titles all the more difficult. Plus Microsoft, while its reputation is a bit mixed in the gaming community, has at least maintained solid business with developers and third parties. Sony cannot quite say the same.

Wii is slaughtering everyone. However, I've been told it's fun for about 2 days, then it's all over. The remote and the nunchuk is really more a gimmick than useful, I think. The Wii is getting the average guy crowd and kids right now, with it's low, low price.
Both Sony and Xbox will recover, but Wii may win this round.

Wii Sports just doesn't get old with friends. Between Tennis, Bowling, Boxing and Baseball (the golf is meh), you can have tons of fun. Plus there are good games out there for it, with plenty more coming.

My twelve year old cousin is already tired of his wii. Sure wii is fun with a crowd, but how many gamers play with friends all the time. Also, fetus, you mean to tell me that people are rushing eb or gamestop for 360's? PS3 is outselling 360's in Japan. (everything is though) If your going by overall sells, you must have forgot that X-box 360 came out a whole year before Sony.

This is an incredibly stupid decision. There were games that made me interested but I guess I will have to wait to see if they come out on th Wii or I need to get a 360.

QFT Rounds are 5 years long, we are about to pass the year 2 marker and start the 3rd one come november. Gimicks allways start off stronger then others. Wii will win hands down, but the round is not over

The price of the ps3 is a problem but i think the really big problem is that the games aren't out for it yet. Metal Gear Solid 4 looks awesome and its one of the most popular series right now. Thats the big reason im getting ps3. Also Grand Theft Auto 4 is incredibly Popular too and Devil May Cry 4 is going to be awesome. I don't know why people say that Sony will end up stop making game systems. I mean they have a wide varity of electronics to sell so im sure they wont end up in a financial crisis. Just wait till those games come put. ps3 will rebound

I don't know why people say that Sony will end up stop making game systems. I mean they have a wide varity of electronics to sell so im sure they wont end up in a financial crisis. Just wait till those games come put. ps3 will rebound I made this point already. Sony has VERY VERY DEEP POCKETS, but eventually, if the PS3 and PSP combined keep selling the way they are (which is barely at all), then the shareholders will wake up and smell what Sony is shoveling. Sony may be vastly rich, but if they lose enough money, the shareholders will notice it and will pull out. One way or another, Sony's gaming division will rebound, or they will die. The question is, how long will it take? Will they shape up in a short time, or will they be forced to, just to maintain survival? Remember, it took two generations for Sega to die out in the console wars (Saturn and Dreamcast)...and they happened to have two well-selling systems just before the huge slump (Genesis and Master System). In my opinion, the huge way in how they went wrong, is that they didn't secure a strong future for themselves, in that they have next to no exclusives, and no huge first-party game coming out. The Wii has games like Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Galaxy, among others, coming. Microsoft has Halo, and they managed to secure a lot of multiplatform games as well. What does Sony have? Jak and Daxter? From what Konami seems to be hinting at, MGS4 likely won't be exclusive, and in this case, Microsoft has even deeper pockets, and will secure it, come hell or high water. The moral of this story: Vince McMahon put it best..."To beat a billionaire, you have to become one yourself." Take that basic knowledge and apply it to this case, and you will get my point.
