Pantera - "Planet Caravan" Motley Crue - "Anarchy in the U.K." Type O Negative - Cinnamon Girl" Ozzy Osbourne - "Stayin' Alive"
the worst one I've ever heard is 311's cover of The Cure's "Love Song"

Sentenced - I Wanna Be Somebody Who is that a cover of and what album is that off of. I thought they only covered "The Trooper" and "White Wedding". Nice musical taste by the way.

I dunno if it qualifies as a cover, but "Walk this Way" with Aerosmith kicks the shit out of the Run DMC version.
I agree with some others on here as well, particularly Johnny Cash's "Hurt", and "Helter Skelter" by Motley Crue.
I dunno where this stands coverwise, but "Without A Fight" on Elite Beat Agents sounds ALOT better than Hoobastank's version. Still not a great song, but it was the first time I ever heard a videogame cover sound better than the original AT ALL, let alone by that much.
And little known fact, but "That's All Right (mama)" by Elvis Presley is in fact a cover (Arthur Crudup), and had he not performed that song he never would have his record deal. The first 3 songs he performed didn't impress the suits, and when they talked it over while he was still in the studio, he belted it out to pass the time, the other musicians joined in, and the rest is history.

No mention of the world's greatest cover band: Me First and the Gimme Gimmes? officialfan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=offtopic&action=display&thread=1184616160&page=1#1184617340Right there on page 1. But I agree with both of you. Just about everything in the MF&TGG catalog is better than the original. Some others: Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Detroit Rock City Stevie Wonder - We Can Work It Out Authority Zero - Mexican Radio Fear Factory - Cars Ben Folds Five - She Don't Use Jelly Earth Wind & Fire - Got To Get You Into My Life Cream - Crossroads Dream Theater - The Great Gig In The Sky Edwin McCain - Maggie May Frank Zappa - Stairway To Heaven Frank Zappa - Whipping Post Shameless - Garth Brooks Goldfinger - More Today Than Yesterday Holly Cole Trio - I Can See Clearly Richie Sambora - The Wind Cries Mary Jamie Cullum - Singin' In The Rain Jeff Healey - Stuck In The Middle With You Linda Ronstadt - Back In The USA Phil Collins - Behind The Lines Thunder - Gimmie Shelter Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) Joe Cocker - The Letter Extreme - Strutter

I say that both Genesis' and Disturbed's versions of "Land of Confusion" are equally great. Others:
- Korn "Word Up" (Cameo) - Coal Chamber with Ozzy Osbourne "Shock the Monkey" (Peter Gabriel) - Real Big Fish "Take on Me" (A-Ha) - Franz Ferdinand "What You Waiting For?" (Gwen Stefani) - Sugababes "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" (Arctic Monkeys) - The Flaming Lips "Can't Get You Out of My Head" (Kylie Minogue) - Limp Bizkit "Faith" [the loud version] (George Michael)
That's all I can think of right now...
EDIT: Wait, there's also Jesse Cook's version of "It Ain't Me, Babe" (Bob Dylan).

Motley Crue's cover of the Stone's "Street Fighting Man." Sounds right for the song.

For cover stuff, Fozzy puts out some good sounding stuff. Ball's to the Wall rocks.

I'm a covers junkie and will listen to just about any of them. That said, Incubus Succubus' rendition of "Paint it Black" may just be better than the original.

Metallica - Stone Cold Crazy (Queen) Dream Theater - Perfect Strangers (Deep Purple) I have a jaw dropping version of the song with Bruce Dickinson on vocals, it set in stone that IMO Bruce Dickinson is the best metal vocalist eVAR!!!1 Props to Motorhead's version of Enter Sandman, Lemmy's evil growling vocals fit it so well. Also Fozzy's version of the Crue's Live Wire. After hearing Jericho on vocals, I actually knew what the words to the song were. And I really like Megadeth's version of A Toute Le Monde they did for United Abominations... Would it count if they covered a song they made themselves?

Electric Six's version of "Rock Show" is better than any version of the song Peaches ever recorded. That song sounds like it was meant to be sung by Dick Valentine all along.
