Sam carrying Frodo up the moutain. That one almost got me misty eyed. ALMOST??? Why you heartless...... Joking aside, the "You bow to no man" line is another scene that is uplifting. Sam carrying Frodo got a slight cheer for me in the theatre (as did others). But I'll admit here and now: I cried at "You bow to no one." Still get misty eyed to this day (was watching it this weekend - still) God damn, that was great.

I kinda hated Sam and Frodo, though I'll admit to being REALLY misty eyed when Frodo announced that he was going with Gandolf and Bilbo to basically die at the very end of the film. And yes, the "You bow to no one" line is the most uplifting point in any of those films. I'm probably the only one, but I thought when the trees saw the destruction of their own kind and rampaged Isengard, it was a tad uplifting. Because trees kicking ass always is.

Hard to believe there's been 5 pages without any mention of the conclusion of 'It's a Wonderful Life'

Hard to believe there's been 5 pages without any mention of the conclusion of 'It's a Wonderful Life' Dammit, that is a good one. My favorite Christmas movie. "You know what, Mr Potter? You're a b****"

The end of Ocean's Eleven (the remake) when the eleven (minus Clooney) are all standing watching the Bellagio fountains. They don't say anything to each other and they don't need to. Ok, so it's a rip-off of the Right Stuff (which I also love) but it works perfectly.

I completely agree though. In Battle Royale 2, Shuya makes this speech to the world right before the final attack on the island. Also, when the nerd reveals his love for one of the girls and she simply tells him "Come back."

All of it is an uplifting moment. Rocky Balboa is quite the movie, and all of the father and son stuff really hit me because I had lost my father a few weeks before I saw the movie. As for all of the Lord of the Rings stuff, I don't know, but has anyone mentioned the charge of the Rohirrim at Helm's Deep?
