Their scenes together are some of the worst acting I've ever seen. Well, the good news is that both characters eventually end up dead. As for the actors, I do agree that they have some of the worst chemistry with each other that I've ever seen. To think, all those years we thought that Darth Vader was the baddest villain ever, when really he was just a whiny little b**** inside a big scary suit. Yup. I was expecting his fall to the darkside to be epic. Turns out it was over a chick. Sigh.

"You're breaking my heart!" The theater I saw it in laughed at that and many other lines. I don't think that's what Lucas wanted. It was all kinds of awful, in a hilarious way.

I'm sure we could find worse, but it's a good place to start. Didn't Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman have pretty bad/non-existent chemistry in Bewitched? I blocked out almost all memory of that film, but I don't think they were very good together in that film.

Along with terrible dialogue, Lucas forgot to figure out why exactly Padme would fall in love with the psychopathic mentally unbalanced mass murderer Anakin Skywalker.

I just don't accept that Lucas is capable of that kind of depth to make the Star Wars prequels a cautionary tale about the dangers of falling in love with bad boys. He should have given Anakin a motorbike and a leather jacket.

I think its less of a cautionary tale, more of a showcase of how a woman can make you do crazy stuff and totally f*** your life up.

Once Padme learned that Anakin killed them all...the women AND THE CHILDREN, she should have been outta there.
But no, him committing genocide just made her hike up her skirt a little more.

good grief, adrew mccarthy and kim catrall in "manequin" were a more convincing couple. heck, afleck and Jlo in "Gigli" had more chemistry than these two. lol I blame more Lucas the scriptwriter than those two in question.

Jet Li, Aliyah. Romeo Must Die. Let's be fair to Jet Li, he's not renowned for his english language acting skills and Aliyah wasnt even an actress in the loosest sense.

Bingo. Lucas has a history of being awesome as a puppet master, organizing things in the background. TESB, ROTJ, the Indiana Jones films, etc. were all great because George created a general direction for things and let someone else actually run the filming. As a result, overall his intents made it onto film without him getting lost in the shuffle of every single detail. Quite honestly, I have no idea how he managed to direct any good movie himself that he wrote because he clearly puts way too much of himself into the process.

I said that I don't know how he has ever managed to make a good movie like that, not that he hadn't done so. He certainly has. I just don't know how he managed to get past himself to do so.
