The 1990's remake directed by Tom Savini is good as well, in my opinion, though nowhere near as loved. I really like that version.

I want to see this movie, now. According to this screenshot, it seems to have pretty good special effects for the time. Hell, Snakeman, you've never seen NOTLD? Damn. You can track it down pretty easily, as it's a public domain movie. In fact, I'm willing to bet it won't be hard to find streaming online somewhere. YAY for legendary movies that go to public domain !! ( That' s also how I got to see Plan 9 From Outer Space ) And no, I have never seen Night of the Living-Dead... I believe the only movie from this "series" I saw is Day of the Dead. Very good and underrated movie, IMO.

I believe I heard something about copyrights not being usable after some time... Oh and I just remembered I once saw a trailer for the VHS release of A Clockwork Orange when I was a kid ( there was no DVDs back then so I was obviously pretty young ) and it was enough to freak me out.

I was always freaked out by Gremlins.
And of course, the aforementioned Large Marge scene.

I believe so, but it's a very, very long time - NotLD was public domain'd due to a distributor screwup.

I hate the public domain situation for NOTLD. It's thrown into every single "50 horror movie" pack with a bunch of horrible movies, sullying its reputation.
Don't even get me started on the NOTLD 3-D that I almost bought last night, till I read a review online that told me that
1 - Ben was white, and a drug dealer and 2 - Instead of a farm house, everyone hides out in a drug house, and the most "dazzling" use of 3-D is a joint being stuck into the camera. Wow. 3-D stoners. I can't wait.

Phantasm. I stayed up late one night after my parents went to bed. Damn thing gave me nightmares for a week.
It's funny how you can watch those movies now and laugh at how cheesy they were.

Some movies are public domain and they add a trailer or something and a decent looking cover and charge $10 or whatever based on that-I love the 50 packs though

I BEGGED my Dad to let me watch The Shining when I was really little. Honest to god, that movie wrecked me for a long time. I wouldn't even touch a horror movie for a long time afterwards.
Now they're my favorite genre, go figure. Though dumb as it may sound, I still haven't watched The Shining since.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space scared the crap out of me when I watched it for the first time. Hastened my fear of clowns and I've been afraid of them ever since...

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I begged my dad over and over to see it and finally he took me to watch it and it really screwed me up for a while.

REad the shinning book after that you'll find the movie to be a comedy.
