I enjoy American football as well, but the constant stoppage does get to me. Sometimes you'll get a touchdown, then a commercial, then a point-after, then another commercial, then the kickoff, then ANOTHER commercial. Then if there's an injury timeout, you get MORE commercials. Companys actually pay a lot of money for 30 second spots during NFL games.

I've never understood this 'feud' between both types of Football.
Why can't people just accept that they're completely different sports, and leave it like that? I don't see why people make a huge fuss (especially British people who don't have a clue about the American sport and bash it for no particular reason, like what's going on with this thread).

I read a rumor about possibly holding a future Super Bowl in Wembley Stadium. Um, why? We already know that there's little to no interest in football in England, so why move the biggest game of the year to a place where nobody will watch it, and besides that, it'll probably start at about 3:00 ET in the US.

The thing with watching Amercian Football is there seems to be no satisfaction for the players when they score a touchdown as they just have to run across a line. Unlike say Rugby where you have to dive for the try, soccer where you have to kick the ball into the goal or baseball where you have to really smack the ball for a homerun. Always seemed a bit lame IMO Never seen Chad Johnson score a Touchdown I take it. Now there is a man who shows a great deal of satisfaction when scoring.

American football and real football are both great. Very few things are as exciting as going to either event live.

It has been reported today in some of the british papers that Eggert Magnusson, the west ham chairman, has suggested that he would like some premeirship matches to take place in America. I hope that never happens

I hope that never happens I'd love to see a Hotspur match in Giants Stadium, myself. And yes, I realize that this REALLY isn't their year, but they're my team.

I don't see why people make a huge fuss (especially British people who don't have a clue about the American sport and bash it for no particular reason, like what's going on with this thread). Well, in some cases, it's merely people stating an opinion or giving a reason as to why they will not be watching a major NFL game taking place on UK soil (as WAS happening in this thread). Sometimes it's just someone trying to troll & start up an argument because they disagree with what's being said & will bash "soccar" for no particular reason (as has also happened in this thread).

I hope they don't have much interest for it elsewhere. They need to keep the games in America. If a Superbowl ever leaves the US, I'll be f***ing irate.

I hope that never happens I'm sure he would, I don't think West Ham sells out too many of it's matches. It would be a bad idea for home fans, although I wouldn't put it past Manchester United trying to take a league match to a country like Thailand or South Korea.

The entire feud has to do with nothing more then Gridiron being called "Football" here in America...If we had a differnent name for it then these two sports would never have been pitted together...

The golf comment wasn't serious... But I agree. There's so much inaction in American Football. It just can't hold my attention for too long. Every play is action packed. What are you talking about? Soccar is full of inaction. Kick run and not make a goal is all that happens. Yeah but a "play" of American Football is 15 seconds long (or something like that...) and the setup to said play requires a lot of dead time. Football-Soccer is "kick and run" but you kick and run for the whole duration of the match... You're entitled to dislike it and to find it boring (and indeed many games ARE painful to watch), but saying that American Football has more action and less inaction is a bit of a stretch

Pretty much some straight up truth right there. Real football has tons of action. While soccar is just a bunch of nothing for 90 minutes. Thats why soccar isn't taking well here. Too boring.

The NFL season is 16 games. Each team plays the other three teams in its division twice, two other divisions, and then 2 games against opponents that matched them in quality the year before. While I think going to London is a great idea, I feel that if I were a Dolphins fan, I'd be a little peeved because that's one less home game. its 3 games that match in quality 6 games in division 3 games that were on the same level the year before in another division/same conference 3 games from the rest of a division in your conferance 4 games in other conference

Well, since this game sold out, the idea might be a good money-spinner for Wembley. But, as I said, I think the attraction here is more for novelty value. It's something different than the usual footie matches/concerts there. Thing is, if it isn't a good match, many of the fans that went to see it might not be back. And if Gridiron football matches become a frequent part of the line-up at Wembley Stadium then the novelty factor will dissipate & the idea of a Superbowl there will disappear into the ether. And, as you noted, the time-zone difference is too great a factor to ignore.

But in stuff like Baseball theres what a minute gap between EVERY new batter. Compared to football which is running and is so energetic if you get good players, watch Christanio Ronaldo and tell me thats not entertaining. Players like Angel who are good in small spurts but not like he was when playing for Boro.
