www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/articles/4375906/livefrompunjabWWE.com's kayfabed-ness has gone too far for me this time. The guy was a police officer who's now sending his cash home to open schools and hospitals and they're telling us he was some kind of kingpin thug? What kind of crap is this? Whatever you think of Khali as a wrestler, he should be commended for what he's doing. But no, not only will they make sure most casual fans are never even aware of it because they want to book him as a heel and still refuse to acknowledge any difference between kayfabe and reality unless they're absolutely forced to...they dump all over it like this. Sickening.

That isn't all that nice. I've always thought the WWE website should oporate like the old WWE magazines. One was kayfabe, one pretty much wasn't (Raw i think it was called).
This serves a point in promoting big evil Khali to kids etc. who look to WWE for information, but it is a shame they cant celebrate how good he actually is to his village.

He's seriously sending money back to India to open schools and hospitals? Wow, what a great human being he is!

Remember... The Great Khali is a heel. Heels are bad people and only do bad things.
They'll go with the "Khali: Nobel Peace Prize Nominee" story as soon as he turns face.

He's seriously sending money back to India to open schools and hospitals? Wow, what a great human being he is! He sends a big chunk of his paycheck back to help develop the village he's from. Next week, a story will appear on WWE.com informing us of former corrections officer Elijah Burke's past as an ex-con.

Argh, I hate it when WWE does this. The line between babyface and heel NEEDS to blur.
At the end of the day, The Great Khali is a character on a television show. Dalip Singh is a human being. Fans can tell the difference.

I can see your point about the kids, but that was pretty wordy article that I doubt most 5-10 year olds would understand much of. All in all, a totally pointless exercise.

Bit of a silly story when you look at WWE TV Schedules. India show Smackdown on Tuesday nights, so it hasn't even been shown there yet.

The whole thing is pointless. Just don't mention his charity at all. Don't try and discredit it.

India is, in fact, a huge audience for wrestling in general. I'm surprised that they're not putting this over more.
WWE.com really need a writer who takes the heel perspective more. I don't remember, when Russo was doing that whole "Vic Venom" gimmick, was he more writing towards the perspective of the heel, or just the smarks?

That....was not amusing. No where near funny. I can't believe they would do that.
Also, the freaking "Batista destroyed the myth" bullcrap was just...what the frick? Daggone it!

Why don't they just say he was the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk? Or better yet, say he was the troll under the bridge all along

Why would they bring attention to it in regards to his character? What he does in his personal life with his money doesn't have anything to do with the heel character he portrays.
In a way at least on here I kinda of wish none of us knew about his charity deal. Not that it isn't a great thing for him to do, but good grief it gets brought up ad nauseam. Heck, some justify ( or at least seem to) liking his character solely on that.
" Wow, he's terrible both in the ring and on the mic." "Yes, but he sends money to his village!"
And as a preemptive caveat to hopefully defuse some of the ' Nuh uh, I like Khali for other reasons' posts that are sure to follow- 1) yup it's a broad generalization, and some people derive some genuine entertainment from the big charitable lug apparently. 2) just my opinion

Why don't they just turn him face? He hasn't been doing anything heelish. Just dominating jobbers. I haven't seen him cheat or beat up a woman or insult the home town.
WWE is going world wide and as far as I know, wrestling is not big in India. India doesn't have too many globally recongizible celebrities. Why not capatilize on this? I'm sure they must already be talking about him in India.

Just don't mention the charity if the website is kayfabe (which is still a stupid idea). Why even go there?

I think someone suggested this once, and I think it could be fun, if they did a thing with Khali where he was actually a nice guy complimenting people in his native tongue, but his jerk translator kept feeding people translations that made Khali look like a monster. And then the translator would say that the guy insulted Khali and Khali would just brainchop the guy. Comedy gold.
