I almost don't want to read this. Bret Hart was my childhood hero. He was favorite wrestler by far. I want to read this book but I don't want it to drastically change my view on him. I tried reading his sister's book once..and she painted Davey Boy to be a horrible person. I had to stop reading it because it was ruining my childhood. I grew up a Bret Hart fan and then it expanded to the Hart family and some of those who trained in the dungon. People always said that family had problems, which I refused to believe and then I read that book and was h(e)art broken. Something made me feel bad for them when they were younger, but once they really broke into wrestling, the things they did made me wonder why.

I was always a Bret Hart fan and I hate to believe that certain things he has done are true. When I heard of Davy Boy and Bret doing speed (my first hearing of Bret doing any kind of drugs) before their match at SS 92, I think i died a little. I never heard that, can you elaborate some?

There's probably atleast 8 chapters dedicated to how much he hates Shawn Michaels

Looking back in retrospect I can say that I prefer HBK matches to Brett Hart matches. The irony is that I at one time really disliked HBK's wrestling persona. But when I do a comparison with him and Hart I would rather watch a HBK match now

The irony is that if you read the original post it has nothing at all to do with Shawn Michaels. This is how rumors get started that Bret always complains about Michaels.

I can't wait to read this. I've always been an enormous Hitman mark (bah-dum-CHING!), so I'd love to hear his take on things straight from the source.

It's from Diana's book Under The Mat. I haven't read it in awhile, so I don't remember all the detail, but it had something to do with Bret just being out of it (just tired or just physically and mentally beat i dont remember) but Davy Boy and Bret were eating and Davy Boy gave Bret speed at the table, and I believe Diana was right there. I'll have to look it up later and reread that part

I remember later, Bret said that Davey was actually drunk or high during that match, and he had to carry him. Which made the match more amazing considering the circumstances.

Can't wait for this one. He is my favorite wrestler of all time. It should be interesting to hear some of the stories from some of my other favorites like Davey Boy, Owen, Pillman, etc.

Every person has done bad things. Especially people with that much temptation in front of them. It bothered me when I found out my parents weren't the saints they portrayed themselves as, but I learned a lesson from it. If Bret has skeletons in his closet, he's not the only one. It's good that he's being honest about it.

Now I'm not the biggest Hart fan (In fact I hate him) but I'm looking forward to this book. There are only two ways this can turn out. 1. Bret grows some Mahoneys and starts thinking how other poeple feel about some events, and why they did what they did or said what they said. This would maybe completly change my oppinion about the man. 2. He goes on pregnant doging about everything in his life that went wrong. This hopefully would make people realise that he is just a bitter old has been, which doesn't appericate the things life gave him at all. Kind of like the Ultimate Warrior without the epeleptic attacks. So no matter how this turns out: I WIN. 3. He simply tells his story, apparently the WHOLE story now, getting his skeletons out of the closet and some weights off his chest once and for all. ...and you sit there and realize that you are also not perfect and have obviously, with your liberal attitude, whined and bitched about things far less important. And, after calling Bret a hypocrite, in your own hypocrisy you still claim victory, convincing yourself that you've just filled a void in your empty little life.

Geez, is it me or do Bret Hart fans take criticism of their boy more personally than any other group? You'd think people had said something about a family member.

He's already made his peace with Vince and said he understands why he did what he did and said that Vince understands Bret's point of view also. A lot of idiotic wrestling fans can't seem to grasp this and like to complain about Bret "whining". You'd almost think -oh, I dunno- that the fans obsess more over Montreal than Bret ever did. I've been waiting a long time for this book. I'll definetly be reading it The Day.
