I don't see either instance as a burial, as they were to put over the guys in question as monsters. I remember listening to an Nash interview where Backlund was telling him backstage at MSG to go out there and make the people love you and he wasn't upset with the finish at all. Not every match has to be 30 minutes or more. While the Nash / Backlund thing may not be a burial, the HHH/warrior thing definitely was, as HHH was being punished for the Curtain Call incident. That couldn't be as Wrestlemania took place in March and the Curtain Call incident took place in May of that year. It was just the Warrior being his dominant self, nothing wrong with a short match to me.

Most of the WCW and ECW talent during the InVasion months. They were systematically dismantled. Especially DDP. Blech.

Add to the list Jericho's departure from WWE after feuding with Cena. It made me quite sad to see Y2J (or Y2Cheap, as Cena uncreatively called him) go out like a sniveling helpless crybaby. I have a bad memory, but I vaguely remember something involving Jericho, Bischoff, and a trash truck. Anyway, I thought it was the lamest way to send Jericho off. the Trash truck was how they got Bischoff off television, and had nothing to do with Jericho.

Benoit making Orlando Jordan look like a bitch for a straight month. Yeah, can't forget that. Talk about loss of credibility.

I think one of my biggest issues with the term burial is it's become so bastardized. Most of the things in this thread aren't actually burials. Like, the Jericho leaving was his idea from he lost to John Cena.
When a heel gets "buried" in a weird way, it's important to take into account that most heels end up looking foolish in some way or another, because if they look really stupid. It's hard for people to like them. So when Jericho left kicking and screaming, it made him look really pathetic, which was the whole point.
There are some legit burial cases. After the Curtain Call incident, I remember Triple H going from being undefeated for months on end, to a jobber. It's funny to think that Triple H literally had Funaki's spot on the card, lol. I thought it was weird though that after months of being jobbed out, he just won the IC belt out of the blue.

I don't think anyone even has mentioned this yet, but I'll be the first to.
John Cena.
The build up for WM22 felt like a burial and half. Now I'm not one to go out and say "Oh Trips is burying another guy, blah blah blah." but this felt like a purposeful attempt to bury John Cena since he was rapidly losing supporters. I mean, seriously, some of the things Trips have said were downright nasty. Anyone have a link to that promo?

Jamie Noble is without a doubt getting buried week by week which I think is sad......just give the man the CW title and see how good of a champ he makes, IMO
