Well just about anything public a business does should be for PR.
But that doesn't take away the fact it's a very thoughtful thing to do.

Am I the only one who thinks the drugs...may be the thing keeping him alive? Jake Roberts is the "Anti-Man." The Drugs make him live longer! "I agree."

Not only did WWE not announce it (2 days later his sister did I believe) but when they were asked about it they were yet to comment on it. Sounds kinda private if ya ask me...

They did it purely for PR; that doesn't mean it's not good. I tend to agree that this is simply a PR move. However, I hope Jake can conquer his demons once and for all.

Jesus guys, quit talking about PR and stuff...Who the freak cares!?! This is a great thing and maybe, the last chance Jake has to save his life. That should be the only thing we are talking about here. That's all that matters

Jesus guys, quit talking about PR and stuff...Who the freak cares!?! Businesses do. If they don't want a bad reputation, they give good PR. I do agree it's great for Jake getting into rehab and along with that, it gives WWE some good publicity. So, really, everyone wins.

Its a kind move by WWE, though even Jake himself has admitted that every day is a battle so I don't know how much good its going to do.
Funny thing is that, while Jake has been rather critical of the product (see the "Worst Wrestling Ever" comments)he's never been that critical to Vince or the company as a whole as bad or uncaring.

Where has WWE promoted this?
Who in the media has even publicized their letter offering to everyone?
Have they screamed moving Jake into rehab?
No.

No. Not trying to defend anyone or take one mindset, but the best publicity is the stuff you don't have to pay for. The fact that someone has said of this news has taken the effort away from the WWE to do it, thus they reap the rewards from it.

You know you're in trouble when you wish you were dying, or wish you were dead. And you curse God, screaming "Why can't You take me? These were people far less fortunate than you, people who could use your money for essentials, and what did you do? You made fun of them. You humbled them and you humiliated them. Well, now it’s my turn. I’m going to make you beg, DiBiase, you are going to get down on your hands and knees. This time, you’ll be the one that’s humbled. This time, you’ll be the one that’s humiliated, and this time, you will be the one that grovels for the money. And how appropriate, that the money you grovel for is your very own. A victim of your own greed, wallowing in the muck of avarice. Longfellow couldn't have put it better.

Okay its not like they kidnapped Roberts and sent him to rehab. Obviously when asked Jake accepted the fact that he needed to go or others convinced him to go. The only problem I have with this is that 9 weeks might be too short of a time, I would like to see him in a 6 month program.

Who's got the under/over on when Jake falls off the wagon?
Maybe we should start a pool?

That's what most businesses get, though with their image of Big Money Conglomirates who only care about making more of it.

It's sad that I live in a world where I can't quite imagine a sober Jake Roberts.

AHah I think its hillarious how some people are getting all pissy just cause some dudes on a forum are calling this a pr move.
I dont know why Vince wants to waste his money on a lost cause like Jake Roberts. Even if he gets clean all the years of drug abuse have probably taken a huge toll on his body. Best case sceanrio I se is he ends up like Hawk.
