Just how every post so far has been about PR and crap. It's shocking that I, a pessimist, am the only one that actually read that and thought it was a great thing. But all I'm seeing is "PR move" posts. I do think it's a good thing, and I think it's good that these men (and women) have a chance to turn their lives around. But ask yourself one thing: Do you honestly think this rehab opportunity would be there for Jake and the rest had the whole Benoit thing never gone down? i dont think it would have been so readily availible were it not for benoit... however, that dosen't mean that it's necessarily for PR. it could also mean that the Benoit tragedy brought forth a pre-existing problem with this business that the WWE didnt really consider before the benoit tragedy...

I hope Jake gets better.
However i would love to be in group therapy with him.
"Well my names Jake Roberts, uuuh, i've done everything. Uppers, downers, booze, 2 with toys..." some time later "...and that's why i am not aloud in shoe stores anymore. And so, yeah, i wanna set a good example for all my fans and show my family i still love them and um .......what is that chocolate?"

I hope Jake fixes himself and gets rid of his demons because I really think he would be a great asset to the creative team. Gotta give credit to WWE, I don't care if they did it for PR or not. One of my all-time favorites is getting some badly needed help, that's all I care.

But ask yourself one thing: Do you honestly think this rehab opportunity would be there for Jake and the rest had the whole Benoit thing never gone down? They sent wrestlers to rehab long before Benoit. Long retired ones? Maybe not, I'm not sure. But name me ONE SINGLE other company that pays for rehab for a employee has been gone a DECADE. It's a waste of money on a guy who's had plenty of chances. If I was a stockholder I'd be pissed.

It was for Regal, and he largely credits that for saving his life in interviews-- all of that pre Benoit.

The thing is, is that while it would be a depressing situation if Jake Roberts were simply some mentally destroyed, senile man, the really sad aspect is that there is a brilliant mind there, one that offers so much to the business. I've listened to his interviews, he has some incredible insight.
If this doesn't help him, I think the best thing for Jake is to commit himself to writing a book or guide of some sort with all the ideas and observations he has. Get some of that stuff down in permanent form, and hopefully leave some kind of dignified legacy after he's gone.

I DONT CARE, PR or NOT....he's needed help for nearly twenty years or more...if this helps him turn the corner in his life, so be it. I have the Jake DVD and I've heard his stories, the Man is begging (without right saying it) that he needs help. I am GLAD, that he is getting it and I hope he takes his treatment seriously.
Good job, Jake and the WWE.

I hope Jake get have do well in his recovery because he needs the help. He always will be one of my favorite since I became a wrestling fan in 1989. I always remember him in his feud with Rick Rude.

goddamn people, cant we just wish jake a healthy recovery, hopefully for the final time... and leave it at that? or do you all have to f***ing argue about everything. even things you've got NO CLUE about at all? are any of you working for WWE's PR department? oh... what's that? No? Well then stop acting like you do. none of you know if it was done for PR or not. jesus christ... i hope he gets better. even if he never wrestles again, i just hope he gets better for his family and for maybe adding a nice ending to his legacy... Bravo! Here-here! If it were later in the day, I'd crack a beer non-alcoholic beverage and toast to you. Thank you for saying what needed to be said.

No matter what the WWE does, there is going to be a bunch of blind idiots hating the WWE for whatever reason, including jumping on the typical "smark mindset." Yeah, this is a PR move.....
Anyways, I met Jake Roberts earlier this year and he said he wants to conquer his drug problems. The man was wrestling in an event in Bushnell, Florida, and at the end of his match, he made a speech saying "don't do drugs, you'll be as f***ed up as I am." Great guy, offered my 6'4 friend to join his wrestling school.
I hope Jake gets the helps that he needs.

I wonder how many people took the WWE up on the offer to pay for all the rehab. It was an interesting news item that they offered and I think we did not talk any bit about it after that.

Am I the only one who's visualizing WWE wrestlers strongarming their way into his house and tossing him in a van that takes him to rehab?
And in that van, WWE Creative members are reporting back to Vince.
Creative dolt: "Oh god, it's chaos in there! He just DDTed Duece & Domino!" Vince (over radio): "That's it, send in the big guns. Send in...BIG DADDY V!"
And do we know if Jake was presently in any condition to warrant being put into rehab?
This is a puzzler...

To be honest, I don't give a monkey's arse whether it's a PR move or not. All I care about is that Jake is finally getting some help. If he could get cleaned up, he could benefit the business so much. Writer, announcer, manager, whatever. The body may be broken, but the mind still works. If he gets cleaned up, then God bless WWE for this move. PR be damned.
