Sid Vicious murdered his girlfriend and then killed himself, but does it put me off listening to "Never Mind The Bollocks?" Nope - never will do either. Roman Polanski drugged and anally raped a 13 year old girl, but do I still watch and enjoy his movies? Hell yes. Ditto for Benoit. Do you know what should put you off from listing to The Sex Pistols? The fact that they are The Sex Pistols! ;D Just messing with ya man, I've never been a fan of their music. For what it counts, I love the Motley Crue re-mix of Anarchy in the UK. ~Kyle

Definitely.
As someone said before..... Benoit has always been one of my favorite wrestlers, and that won't change.

I'm sorry, but what a deeply stupid thing to say. So by your reckoning the only work that is relevant is by people who are still alive? As soon as they snuff it any emotion they had on camera is "meaningless?" No, I'm not saying their work is irrelevant. I'm saying Death is the reality. The camera captured a moment when they were alive. All well and good. Now they are gone, and can never return, therefore I simply cannot enjoy watching anything post-humously. Hang on a minute, let me mentally prepare myself to be called stupid again.....right, here goes.....all those people are entertainers. People paid to make you forget your daily life and enjoy a few hours away from the reality of your existence. Not by any means knocking any entertainment professional (s l i k of WC is considered a friend), I would much rather remember deceased people who made a profound impact to humanity, whose life's work still resonates to this day, but we cannot dicuss political and religious figures on this forum, so I won't mention any...well, OK, a neutral name - Mahatma Ghandi, for example. But as for the living - I totally admire the work ethic and achievement of say, Arnold Schwarzenneger. But will I, personally, in my little area of the planet, be able to watch and enjoy any of his work after he passes on? I don't think so. Never owned any, and don't have any inclination to do so. Rest assured, when Joe Perry (or any Aerosmith member) passes, I will not listen to his work again, albeit with a heavy heart. I will mourn their passing, but the person on these records is long gone, why keep clinging onto memories? I won't have the heart to. Thanks. Take comfort in the fact that this post won't matter in a week's time. ------------------------------------------- By your later post of enjoying Sid Viscious' music after murdering his girlfriend and himself...that just shows we are different sorts of people. IMO, he's no different from Ted Bundy, and I would not add anything to his estate by buying any of his musical product. "He's a murderer. Nah, it's OK, he made great music. Boy, did he make great music". And to everyone else offended by the "meaningless" comment - let me elaborate where I got that from. I'm sorry for not doing so before - In 2004, Wrestlemania 20, Eddie Guerrero gave Chris Benoit a pep-talk, about 'the long roads they travelled etc. This is the big moment. He must clinch it'. In 2004, to me, that meant a lot - their sacrifices to reach the top of this cut-throat business. In 2007, it means nothing. Not to me. The 'long roads and sacrifices' led to the slaughter of an innocent woman and a little child. Therefore, its a moot point. As for Owen, Perfect etc, I just don't have the heart to look through my video collection and go "*Sigh* That was good, but their gone. It's just so sad". It just hurts. So I'd rather not watch it, than unnecessarily feel sad. I don't know about you lot, but I don't like feeling sad.

I can and do easily. It's just 2 people wrestling to me. Edit:Yeah, easily. I guess I just have problems making myself hate someone that I've never even met. Just because he was a murderer doesn't change the fact that he was a great wrestler, he just wasn't a great person. QFT.

I watched his match with MVP from WM 23. It still made me sad, but that was the first match I was able to watch without turning the TV off.

Yeah I can watch the matches with no problem. I mean seriously I watch his Wrestlemania 2000 match yesterday against Angle and Jericho for the IC Title/European Title. And I always will have respect for Benoit for being a great wrestler.

[ .[/quote] But i dont see it as clinging onto memories, i see it as simply enjoying older music for what it is,and still being a fan, and if they released a cd of unreleased tracks, then thats one last chance to hear this person for the last time. I mean, i watch tons of old matches on youtube that i never got to see the first time around. I dont see it as "drowning in nostalgia", i see it as a chance to watch another match thats new to me.

Let me put it this way: I turn my head during his scenes in the unavoidable "Don't try this at home" segments at the start of DVDs.

I can watch them just fine. Why? because I'm able to separate Chris Benoit the character from Chris Benoit the person. Just the same as right this second in some mall Bing Crosby's immortal classic "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas" is playing while all the mommies and daddies are racing through trying to score off brand DVD players and wrestling figures.
And it's no secret ol' Bing used to beat the holy crap out of his kids and f***ed up their heads so bad two of his sons put the business end of a shotgun in their mouths and proceeded to re-enact Vincent D'Onofrio's final scene in Full Metal Jacket.
Is it tragic all these people died? Yes But I'm not going to punish myself. What's done is done and all the editing in the world isn't going to change it.
