I thought his friend was driving, not Nick. If Nick was the driver and had the BAC level high, there's no reason for him to not get jail time. Here in CA, I'd definitely get jail time

He should get jail time. Anyone else would if they were in his shoes. I don't know how much time something like that carries, but he should have to serve every second of it. He took someone's life (for all purposes he has) and that should require he faces some punishment.
The family of that young man should sue the Hogans for everything they're worth as well. This poor guy is gonna need medical care for the rest of his life. I think that's more than enough reason to sue the pants off Hogan.

if the correct punishment is a jail sentence, then so be it. he broke the law, and he deserves to be punished.

I'm glad some of the people agree on the jail time because an awful lot of people here seem to take this as a minor thing or joke about it. Now dont get me wrong, i'm not a person to huss on about other people's business but when alot of you guys were calling Pacman Jones to lose his job and have a crap life for slamming some hooker(and remotely causing a pro wrestler to get shot) i can't see how the same people can see a lesser crime here, his friend is a VEGETABLE which means he's DEAD. Just because Nick "seems like a normal guy" doesn't mean the crime is any less serious.

I can see both sides. On the one hand, Nick Hogan (Bollea) absolutely deserves to be punished for his actions.
But on the other hand, one of my best friends did something very similar when he was younger. Lucky for him, everyone in the car was wearing a seatbelt and managed to get out of the situation safely. Kids do stupid stuff. I know I did plenty of stuff I could've gotten in trouble for in high school. I try to keep that in mind when reading situations like this.

No. I was the loner kid who never went to parties and primarily did homework as an activity. There was a Magic club and some of them were suspended on different occassions for fighting (as for as I remember, not each other). I did recall a few of them talking about pot & heroin the week after the prom. |

I may get sort of flamed for this, but my heart goes out to Nick Hogan. This is to take nothing away from what he did, and I do believe he deserves to be punished, but this is a kid who has lived in a dream world all of his life, now reality has come to slap him in the face, with a broken beer bottle.
The bottom line his, he's a kid who did a very stupid thing, and now he has to pay the price, but I have a hard time reveling in the fact that he is going to jail.
That being said, I wonder what the Hogan family's reaction would be if it was Nick who was brain dead now.
