I'm kind of surprised Halo has no votes. Of course it has no votes, it's an overrated piece of crap. But seriously, that is a bit surprising even though I kinda see a reason for Halo's lack of votes... I mean, we had games like Mass Effect and BioShock this year, and even though I like Halo it just doesn't compare to Mass Effect as a gaming experience.

True compared to what we got this year Halo is just too generic. - Bioshock - the best FPS/RPG since "Deus Ex" - Mass Effect - RPG with a "Gears of war" combat system = the s*** - Mario galaxy - it's mario, what else can be said - Assassins creed - Hitman in the dark ages but adds alot more

For a demo catagory, John Woo's Stranglehold is the best demo of 2007. Well directed, gave you a good taste of the game, even left you at a decent cliffhanger and unlockables (a reason to play through all the difficulties on the demo). I played this demo for like 3 days lol.
Doctor Doom, Assassin's Creed is better described as Grand Theft Auto set in the Crusades time period. I dont see how people find it that phenomenal. I was bored with it in under 4 hours.

i've seen - terrible framerate - slowdown (one got really bad it was like playing it on a crap PC & had to be turned off) - Enemy bullets/rockets go through scenery and hit you Really? I absolutely loved this game and the only glitch I ran into was on the Luna mission where my team got stuck in the lunar landscape. I reset the game, and it was fixed. This game was beyond amazing, and the reason I finally purchased an Xbox.

A polite request:
Can people please stop dropping votes for Mario galaxy. I dont own a wii and really shouldnt be buying one at this moment in time, and this game (plus its praise) is making it really hard to resist.

The only two games I waited for this year were, the Darkness and Mass Effect.
The Darkness was great to me, but allot of other people disagreed with me.
Mass Effect was not as good as Jade Empire or KOTOR in my opinion.
I would say Mario wins best game twice, with Super Paper Mario & Mario Galaxy.

I think I'm the only person that bought BioShock the day it came out and two weeks later said, eh.
Everyone else seems to still be in love.

I couldnt be bothered to even finish bioshock, just another generic shooter with pretty graphics. And worst of all, no multiplayer.

Alright, it's time for me to be "that guy" and be the first to say this: I found Super Mario Galaxy overrated.
Whilst still a good game in it's own right, I found a lot of the levels focused too much on being "cool" and "flashy" and really didn't provide a lot of challenge. There wasn't a whole lot of depth to some of the game's galaxies and I hated certain levels where the only path to take was flying from one small planet to another and grabbing the star. I want more freedom to roam around than that. I usually take forever to beat a game but I beat this one in just under a week because getting stars is too straight forward most of the time.
I honestly have no idea how it beat Ocarina of Time for #1 Game at one point.
I'm going to give the game of the year to Okami (released in Feb. 2007 in the UK).

I agree on Super Mario Galaxy. i have only had it 2 days and already my 8 year old son is on the 3rd galaxy. Not exactly hard. More of a tech demo.

I couldnt be bothered to even finish bioshock, just another generic shooter with pretty graphics. And worst of all, no multiplayer. Multiplayer in BioShock, now that would have been interesting. I can't see a single way in which a multiplayer mode of some kind would have made the game any better. And yeah, it was a generic shooter... with pretty graphics, some nice RPG-ish elements, excellent atmosphere (mostly early on, not so much in the late stages) and quite a decent plot with a bunch of cool twists.

Well for me, and most of the PC gaming masses, multiplayer is one of the, if not THE biggest factor/s in a game. Multiplayer on consoles always sucks.

Well for me, and most of the PC gaming masses, multiplayer is one of the, if not THE biggest factor/s in a game. For me it's the exact opposite. I want my games to have a good single player mode, multiplayer isn't absolutely necessary although it's a nice bonus if it happens to be there.
