And after making my "illustrious" return here (with a bit of an explanation), I decided to return to my favorite thread in Off-Topic. Anything new being discussed here, or just the same old excretory matter?

Myself, I cannot WAIT for Aja's PIRHANNA 3D. That is going to be one mean little movie. In other news.... www.firstshowing.net/2008/04/11/meg-movie-might-still-live/ is the latest I could dig up about the long gestating MEG. Call me crazy, but I actually want to see this movie. Giant monster movies are few and far between (good ones, anyway) and you know, I could see this being pretty damn good, in the right hands.

I would go see it but I don't see the movie getting made.
And from Arrow in the head.com an interview with Steve Alten had this to say about the movie

Yeah, the budget, for one thing, would probably rival TITANIC, and without Leo DiCaprio shoving a harpoon up this shark's ass....I don't think it would make any of that back.

Man, never dreamed we'd get so much mileage out of the Ouija board movie. I'm fascinated by this idea; this movie has the possibility to be the Plan 9 for this generation. ;D On a more serious note, since we have just a little over 1 page to go for the rest of this thread, I think it's fairly safe to assume that we'll actually accomplish my 3-month long dream of expanding this thing to the point of being locked. So congrats, all WC horror fans - this thread started out with a small base of four or five posters, and now has expanded to include a good 10 or 11. It is, as Rorschach put it somewhere WAY back in this thread, our own little WC horror round table discussion. Something different is in the works for the first post of Part 2 of this thread - the WC horror Hall of Fame (as cheesy as that is ;D). All throughout this thread, I've been keeping tabs on just who the WC horror community, by clear majority, considers to be comprised almost solely of pure awesomeness. The first three inductees into this very prestigious (so prestigious that only us 10 or 11 posters in this thread even know they exist ;D) circle of horror mastery will be honored in the first post of said thread. Two of them won't surprise anyone, but the third just may - although I think that my write-up may just change your mind after you read the name. I thought "House of the Dead" was this generation's Plan 9...though, admittedly, this certainly has a chance of raising the stakes (or is that lowering the stakes in this case?). Horror Hall of Fame, eh? I know who one guy is beyond the shadow of a doubt, I'm fairly certain about another guy, and the last one...*shrug*.

Forrest J. Ackerman's Estate goes on sale on March 8th. www.dreadcentral.com/news/30582/sneak-peek-ackerman-estate-auctionI'm absolutely dreading this. I'm really going to hate seeing this stuff getting torn apart like this. I hope whoever gets the pieces will treat them with some matter of respect, instead of throwing it in a vault somewhere.

Dammit. Estate sales are always sad, but this one...with all the treasures that are sure to be there....I wish somehow a Horror Museum existed, that could take a lot of that stuff and preserve it. Like you said, it's kind of sad to think of the things that will be there, and people just buying it and throwing it in their attic. But on a happier note..... horror looks to be doing ok this year....and hopefully we'll see Trick R Treat in theaters this Halloween. Lots to be optimistic about. Oh, and a little film called Let The Right One In will be hitting DVD in the coming weeks. BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR IT! From what I have heard, it IS amazing.

Damn, LTROI is coming out on DVD this week?! We just got it at the local theater. Ah well. I'm also looking forward to a movie called Splice. Looks like it could be crazy.

And after making my "illustrious" return here (with a bit of an explanation), I decided to return to my favorite thread in Off-Topic. Anything new being discussed here, or just the same old excretory matter? Welcome back, Guy. Hopefully everything is going better for you (I actually did read the thread, but since I'm not qualified in any way to give advice, I refrained . To reiterate what Andrew said, yeah, Platinum Dunes is planning a movie based on a Ouija board game - and if this f***ed up version of Jumanji is as bad as we all think it has the possibility to bee, this movie should be an absolute blast to watch.

Wow - I can't say I saw that coming. That sounds like such a potential trainwreck that I can't possibly miss out on it.

On a slightly serious note, if the people who f*** around with the Ouija board let loose a bunch of ghosts who look like the spectres from 13 GHOSTS....who then wreak absolute HAVOC on the idiot teens/twentysomethings....you might just have something. Almost like opening the gate to Superman's "Negative Zone", where all the REAL, REAL BAD mofos go after they die. Notorious killers and psychopaths, tyrannical warlords from the past....they come screaming out of that board and proceed to kill every living thing around them.
Or heck, just have ONE really bad, really pissed off spirit escape, and take turns possessing the punks who let him loose.
Campy ideas, to be sure, but still probably loads better than what PD will come up with.

Sometime tonight, I'm going to have to check out the 3D version of Friday the 13th Part 3 - it'll be the first time in my life that I'll get to see this movie the way it was meant to be seen. It's gotten a little old seeing all of the cheesy eyeball/yo-yo/popcorn stuff thrown in my general direction and getting to wonder about what the f*** it looked like in 1982 - now I'll know!

I got the DVD on the day of release, but I've yet to watch the 3D version - I'm having a hell of a time fitting the 3D glasses over my actual glasses. I had the same dilemma with my copy of Freddy's Dead. *Sigh*

And see, that's another reason why, even if they DO stick with the red/blue 3D, they need to make the glasses more like the RealD ones.
Now that I think about it....DEEP BLUE SEA 3D might actually be an fun time at the cinemas. I mean, JAWS 3D would obviously disagree, but with today's technology, I could see a RealD killer shark flick being scary, fun, and downright intense.

I'm actually having a hell of a time getting the damn thing to work - even with the glasses on, I still see two of everything, and nothing is really "popping" the way it should.
Damn Paramount.

I've heard the same complaint from a few others. I've been told, believe it or not, that wearing both pairs of 3D glasses at the same time fixes the problem. Give it a try.
