I just watched it... Great Movie! My one question is at the end when he went to the top rope, jumped off then the screen went black and the movie ended, did he die? Or do you guys think something else? Ayatollah got out of the way,Ram died as Ayatollah danced to "Somebody Call Ma Mama" yeah he dies at the end had me in tears.... After just two hours, I became a bigger fan of Randy the Ram than I was for Hogan in the last 20 years

are we to assume he dies?
i thought him continuing just meant that wrestling was all he had.. so he was not going to limit himself.
i kinda thought he lived and went on being lonely.

I finally got to see it this past Friday. It was being shown in Livonia on 7 Mile and Haggerty if any people are near that area at all. I absolutely loved it. Movie was tight, stayed true and real to pro-wrestling, and did not treat the wrestling business as a joke IMO. It was pretty gory at times, but it was an amazing film which I thoroughly enjoyed, and have to say it's the best movie I've seen all this year, and maybe last year too (including TDK).

I was wondering that too. I just loved how he wanted to do his finish one last time, before winning the match. Now that I think about it, yeah I guess he does just die in the ring.

I guess I can see that. And making it not to obvious added to the drama.

Guys...if Rourke doesn't win the Oscar, there isn't going to be a massive freak-out/Sean Penn hate fest in this thread, is there?

I would like to think that Rourke is a lock to win, what with winning a Golden Globe and a BAFTA, but I still always think back to "The Eddie Murphy Situation". Remember that?
He was a lock for best supporting actor for his role in "Dream Girls". I mean, everyone thought so, at least. He had won a ton of other awards for the role previously(including a Golden Globe), but come Oscar night, everyone was shocked to see him lose.
Now, I'd like nothing more than to see Rourke win, but Rourke is playing a far more contraversial role in a much more obscure movie than the other actors. I wouldn't be surprised to see Penn walk away with it.
But in the end, it doesn't matter if he wins or loses. His performance will not change. It'll still be the same movie at the end of the day, and everyone involved should be proud that its actually being as accepted as it is.

I think that he was about to have another heart attack, that he died when he flew off the top rope. No he wouldn't have just been alone and lonely. The whole point was him to change and try to redeem himself, but he had nothing but wrestling. Once he realized that, not even the stripper falling for him was going to keep him from going out on top. It was like I'd rather be dead than have nothing. So, I yeah he dies. It was brilliant writing as a anti-Rocky movie and could have been done with any sport. Baseball, boxing, karate etc..

Guys...if Rourke doesn't win the Oscar, there isn't going to be a massive freak-out/Sean Penn hate fest in this thread, is there? Milk was a horrible good movie. No character development beyond Sean Penn whos performance in no way deserves an Oscar. Just getting it out of the way.

I finally got to see this film, and I loved every minute of it! Everything in the film worked. The acting, the character the development, the story, the heart. As both a huge wrestling and movie fan, this was a real treat. I'll jump on the "Mickey Rourke should win the Oscar" bandwagon.

I saw it recently. Rourke and Eastwood gave the greatest lead performances in 2008. The race for the award should've been between them, but at least Rourke was nominated for what was a brilliant performance.
