I understand the desire but I'm sure you're aware of the reasons why this (probably; I am but one - retired - mod) will not happen. The rules have been the rules since the beginning, and they're the way they are for a reason: things devolve to a place that is not only unenjoyable (the red squiggle is telling me that's not a real word but WHATEVER, RED SQUIGGLE), but also creates a bunch of work for a small group of mods who do not get paid to do this job. In recent times, things have been allowed to be discussed to varying levels and it always requires an extra dose of diligence and, frankly, creates headaches for all involved. Everyone tries to do their best to keep on top of posts that break rules, but the number of posters will always outweigh the number of staff and thus the mods will always be working behind the 8-ball in trying to keep the board running pleasantly and smoothly. Lastly, this place is something of a haven for people looking to escape the heaviness of the world today. Thankfully, there are plenty of places on the internet where one can go to satiate the desire to discuss topics of this nature, but, frankly, it's rather nice to have somewhere you can go where everything doesn't have to be so grim. I'd even go so far as to say it's necessary. I know there's something of a community here, so if there are posters whose opinions you're looking to hear, totally go for it in personal messages. You can make a group message and say what you'd want about what you like in total privacy. I'm sure you understand all this and will respect it as much as I respect your reaching out to us. Well, I have no intention on trying to break that rule, but I did want to voice the frustrations of myself and a few others users about the current rule. Oh, I didn't mean to imply you were going to break a rule. If you were gonna do that, you certainly wouldn't have posted in here. As far as I can tell, the rule isn't going to change. This place has lasted as long as it has, at the size it is, because we keep it as light and fun as possible. Like I said, there are other places you can go for that kind of discussion, as well as personal messages. This is not the only place on the internet to have discussions (generally speaking) and these particular topics specifically. And again, it's asking a whole hell of a lot of the mods. Not everyone is going to be as respectful as you, you know? And even if someone has no intention of being inflammatory, it can still happen. Personally speaking (so don't put this on anyone else, just me), this is the only place I can go where it isn't like everywhere else; I can shut off my brain from the news and people's opinions on weightier subjects and just laugh or find a commonality in something like tv or music. I'd really love it if it wasn't taken from me, and I'm sure others feel the same way. I hope that doesn't come off a way I don't intend it to; the written word can get dicey. I just wanted to let you know my perspective as well.

There's no way for that discussion not to get heated. There's just not given what it's about, and rightfully so.

1) I see a thread locked for using a banned newz source, is it possible to pin up the list on banned sources in the three wrestling threads again?
2) if a post is reported, does the person who reported the post get a notification as to what has been done?

Adding more pins to the individual forums adds more visual clutter and is something that is often complained about here. That said, if we start getting more and more cases of people posting from unapproved sources (really, it's not so much 'unapproved' as 'disapproved' since the list of those that aren't allowed, rather than ones that are) we may do a general "Read the Rules" thing again. 2) Nope. We don't generally discuss measures taken publicly (if any are taken). Sometimes it happens, but that is far from the norm.

Hey, just throwing this idea out there, can/should we skip doing the presidential election thread on election day this year?
I know it's the one time every four years we break the politics rule, and I know I could just not click on the thread, but 60 days in advance I just wanted to float the idea considering what 2020's been.

I just want to add counterpoint, that I think it would be a shame to not discuss what is, in my opinion, the single most important presidential election most of us will see in our lifetime.

Yeah, I think it's far easier to just not click on it, as opposed to skipping the necessary discussion for those that want it. We could even have it posted by a sockpuppet account that you can put on ignore if you don't want to see it.

Your phone musta wandered onto an IP that was banned when we got some troll or such. If you can get ahold of that IP and PM it to one of the mods, we can get that fixed.

I didn't read thoroughly enough to know if this is a repeat (I saw some discussion about the protests, but it didn't seem to get at what I wanted to say), but:
since there was an explicit "No Protest Discussion" rule
it seems an absolute no-brainer that "the Conspiracy Theory whose Primary Agenda is Political Genocide, currently manifesting as violence against the protestors" is too political to be discussed, or even cutesy-referred-to.

Yes, and that also goes for any political pushes in general.
