The man cannot go like he used to. Period.
I give him credit for being honest with himself and requesting the shorter match to open the PPV so he wouldn't stink up the place with a longer match that wasn't good, but he really needs to hang it up, for the sake of the product he's trying to defend, and for his own health.

Man that sucks.
Is it wrong that i'm picturing him walking around with his head down to the Charlie Brown Christmas music ala Arrested Development?

It is a pretty sad situation. I remember a while back in an inteview 'Taker said something like "When the boys feel like they have to go easy on me and treat me as a special case, I'll know it's time to retire." He seems like the kind of guy that would rather have a short hard hitting match than a twenty minute match with loads of showmanship but little action, in a Hulk Hogan kind of way. To be fair to him, though; that interview was conducted in about 2003 and if it's only becoming truly apparent seven years later, he's got nothing to be ashamed about. I hope he can get his injuries sorted, have a few more great matches with some choice names and retire whilst he's able to walk. The thing is I feel Undertaker is not ready to retire yet. He still has many good matches in him if you ask me and I feel he can still be main event. Did you even watch the match? Taker looks extremely run down right now. He came back way too early and it shows. He may have some matches left in him but he needs to heal up.

There goes the "Punk's in the DOGHOUSE" rumors.
You should have heard Meltzer on Sunday. he didn't tiptoe around it as usual. He was like "Oh that was total punishment. He did something in Europe, I dont' know what, but he's in the doghouse now".

Honestly, I feel a little bit sorry sorry for Taker because his hip is clearly causing him a lot of pain and he wants to go out there and give the fans his best. I do however feel even more sorry for CM Punk, as I felt he was made to look like he wasn't on Undertaker's level at both Breaking Point and Hell in a Cell. CM Punk needs to really cement himself as one of the top guys and the only of doing that is to get a real win against someone of Taker's stature.

The end does seem to be coming soon for Taker.
Rehab as much as possible for the next PPV, drop the belt there and do a (kayfabe) injury spot, then rest up until around No Way Out and get the build-up to his last Wrestlemania match going then.
I think that would be the best thing for Taker. And I really hope he stays on backstage after that.

Why the hell does he have the title? More Taker-Batista coming up?

And what was up with his underwear/tights malfunction he had during the match? So much for the "Punk has the HEATZ!111" Pt.23487 rumors just because he lost a match.

Why the hell does he have the title? More Taker-Batista coming up? I don't want to even think about that. The only reason their previous matches were pretty decent is because Taker was in great shape and was able to carry Batista. In his current physical shape, those matches are guaranteed suckfests.

yeah he's not looking too great. Was it ever confirmed if he had an actual hip replacement? or is it still just "some sort of hip surgery"
He should be a extra special attraction only nowadays, certainly not champion imo. I doubt he has many more good matches in him to be honest.

That's gotta be close to spelling the end.

Isn't he rumoured to have arthritic knees too?

Hogan can't do the leg drop because of huis artificial hip, but technology has moved on since then, but it's still not an operation they recommend having twice, and artificial hips do have a shelf life - a lot longer than they used to, but then very, very few people (if any) with artificial joints have athletic lifestyles.

I see. If he has arthritic knees too, then I don't think he'll be around for much longer. At this rate, having Punk retire him is about the best outcome I can see, since he's going on that "Last Rites" tour or whatever its called.

It'd definitely be another feather in Punk's cap to say he put out two of WWE's big babyfaces.

Please don't consider this question insulting, but why would a hip replacement be the absolute end? Hasn't he wrestled on a bum hip for quite some time? Honestly: having a bum hip is better than having it replaced with an artificial one. The body parts you are born with are always better than manmade ones (extreme circumstances not included such as birth defects that require organ transplants and all). Hip and other joint replacements are done as a last ditch effort to allow the individual to live somewhat of a normal live in a manageable amount of pain and functionality. Also, once you get the first replacement done you need a new one in around 15 years or so. I'm 19 now. I've been told by my doctors I'm going to need both knees replaced before I'm 30. My knees are basically shot despite not having played sports or anything much ever really. I need them scoped currently to remove bone chips in the kneecaps. I'm trying to put off the procedures as long as possible because once you start....you enter into the process of needing repeats to replace what has already been fixed because the new parts wear out. Technology has come a long ways in the past few decades, but not enough to the point that a doctor is going to recommend going out and doing strenous activity on a newly replaced hip joint. Or, in the case of Hulk Hogan on replaced hips/knees with a case of scoiliosis (which I have) and a messed up tailbone from wrestling and taking so many bumps on his ass all those years from doing his finisher.
