The shots Monday look even worse now with the removal of the guys that Trips mocked from the match altogether. Now what do the casual fans think? DO they see these guys and say "I want to see this guy wrestle"? No, they see Trips mock someone as being beneath him, then the guy is taken out of the match altogether cementing the fact that not only are the people mocked below the "top guys" they're below the team that they lost to. So when this throw away match is over, the guys reactions will be dulled significantly, as they've been called and shown as losers. Bad move, very bad move. Have you just spoiled SmackDown? I was gonna say - for goodness sake!!

well to be honest i was with HHH and his who the hell is this guy with Escobar (stopped getting smackdown a few weeks back) and i actually thought McIntyre was Morrison because of the hair and trying to remember why that wasn;t making sense (since he was fighting the Miz already). but at least i heard of Drew once they said his name- anyone who messes up R-Truth's routine is fine by me . Escobar- not so much. hell i barely remembered vickie was back.

Remember when RVD said something to the effect of "Dude, you can really spit some water." That was as much of a burial as anything Triple H said about Team Smackdown. That is to say, not much of a burial at all.

I honestly don't know why he does them. Its not like WWE's current booking style is designed to attract smarks anyway. At best, they just get a "huh?" from most of the current WWE fans. At worst they're a waste of TV time.

I'm a little flabbergasted at this thread, so pardon me if I sound dickish. But are you guys freakin serious? Firstly, you do know that this is WWE, where 99% of the promos are pre-written, word for word, by a crack writing staff, right? Hunter and Shawn may take a little leeway, but come on, this company has been on their backs for 15 years. They're allowed. As for the "not allowed to say anything back" or "making your opponent look like rubbish" comments, isn't that the whole point of cutting a promo? To verbally assault your opponent into thinking they're worthless so you have the mental advantage going into the match? And don't give me the whole "burial is wrong" speech, that's exactly what promos are designed to do. If you can completely and totally bury your opponent in a promo, then you've (kayfabe) done your job correctly. Someone else has already pointed it out but I think it needs to be re-enforced. The idea that Shawn Michaels and Triple H have carried the WWE for 15 years is absolutely laughable.

You could make an okay argument for Trips, but HBK wasn't a huge draw even when he was pushed as champ (which was over a decade ago).

That is to say, not much of a burial at all. Of course, that was before Triple H said "You won't amount to anything in this business". Then he proved himself right by winning yet again at SS 2002*. Then RVD ended up... doing nothing about it and eventually tagging with Kane, who was also made to look like an idiot by HHH. Let's be honest. They're not going to let Team Smackdown win. * Wait, my bad. That was the one where HBK got a title reign out of no where. It was Unforgiven 2002.
