If Shane was quitting to run his mom's campaign, he would have said so. Linda is running for the U.S. Senate. She hired people experienced in political campaigns already im sure.

All of the speculation arising out of this situation reminds me of this: Doesn't seem to be too far off from what we've all been discussing today, huh? This looks to be something that has been brewing for a while now. WWE has done this quite a few times....if something interesting is going on backstage, they throw it out there on camera and make an angle out of it. I'm still mad we didn't get any sort of payoff from that. I thought it would atleast me mentioned when Shane returned after Vince got head punted, but no.

Considering the lack of information coming out at this point in the story, the only responsible thing to do is to engage in wild speculation and doomsday prophecy until we know more.
I think we all realized when Vince moved on, HHH and Steph would be the heads of creative, but at least Shane would have a rational biz mind to keep the company afloat and rein in excesses by the Levesque's. Short term impact is negligible, but this will have will a huge impact the moment Vince leaves. Let's at least wait until then to begin the inevitable riots, orgies and mass public suicide.

When I was in the audience at Wrestle Mania XX, they showed this brief video featuring Vince and Shane and then panned down to Shane holding a baby. It gave me cold chills in a good way because they had this look that the McMahons were going to control WWE forever. Now this. I'm shocked. Am I really the only one who thought Shane would NEVER get the company as soon as I heard that HHH was dating Stephanie all those years ago? Nobody else is that cynical?

Wow. HHH even managed to bury Shane of all people. Hats off to this guy. That's really taking it to the next level. What's next, Hunter?

If these two things turned out to be true, would that make Shane the Fredo Corleone of WWE?

I can't think of a better reason for the internet. Well other than the porno but that's been established for awhile now. Now onto my theories on why Shane left. As none of you know, I have some pretty good sources who never worked for the WWE and their insider knowledge is non-existent at best.... - Shane realized his dream wasn't to work in the wrestling business. It was to be a bartender after seeing Tom Cruise in "Cocktail". - Stephanie told him that once her dad kicks the bucket, she gets his office and Triple H gets her office. Also, Shane will be demoted to ring rope consultant. - Vince McMahon told Shane that he blew most of his trust fund on a paternity test to see if Fyvush Finkel really is the father of Howard Finkel. He was not. - Shane thinks the overall concept wrestling is gay. - Shane's kid told him that he wants to be bossed around by his family members when he grows up, just like his dad. - Semi-early mid-life crisis. - Shane was afraid that the DX gimmick would still be main eventing in 2029....with the same two members as it stands now.

One other thing.
Did anybody notice in his farewell letter, that he was actually allowed to say "WWE Fans" instead of "WWE Universe"?

I keep thinking that Shane's gonna start his own company or buy out an existing company to compete with the WWE.
It's like the Alliance storyline, except that it would be a real-life version. Shane should go for it. He has a mind for the business.

I just realised what's going to happen.
Linda wins the election, and Shane goes on TV to congratulate her:
"The name on the ballot paper says McMahon, but..."

Okay I have some reel news on Shane McMahon quitting the WWE.
He is going to fund Hulk Hogan's new wrestling federation the HWF for its United States tour, since Vince is done with Hogan and the only reason Hogan got on WWE Tv the last few times was Shane's respect for the man. Therefore, because Hogan is begging to return to the WWE again - Vince forced his son to quit due to fighting over brining Hogan back. Therefore Shane will create the HWF for Hogan's last United States run.

But I'm gonna miss Shane, he was always my favorite McMahon. I'm going to miss his theme too. Pimpin' hoodrats to Playboy Bunnies

"The deal is finalized...with UFC, and the name on the contract does say McMahon. However, the contract reads Shane McMahon. That's right! I now own UFC! And, Dad, just like UFC did in the past, how it kicked your ass in the past and it will again, that’s exactly what’s going to happen to you this Sunday at WrestleMania!"

I'm not surprised that TNA was brought up in the first 10 posts of this thread, but you guys and gals obviously aren't thinking broadly enough: ZOMG!!! SHANE GOT HIS 3RD STRIKE FOR WELLNESS!!!1! AND THIS IS JUST A VAST CONSPIRACY DESIGNED TO COVER IT UP!!! In all seriousness, I think this announcement sucks. Shane seemed like a very likable guy from all accounts, and even though the writing on the wall seemed to suggest that Stephanie and Triple H would take over creative when Vince eventually did step aside, I was holding out hope for Shane to take control. He has more of a personality in line with his grandfather, Vince Sr., who is/was one of the more well-respected wrestling promoters in the history of the industry. Let's face it...WWE has never been taken seriously with Vince as it's head. WWE's always been compared to a "three-ring circus" with Vince being deemed the "ringleader." It's a joke because Vince makes it a joke; he always seems to take on elements of the "Mr. McMahon" character in his interactions with the mainstream media, and that does nothing but turn people away from the product. Unfortunately, I don't think that Steph or Triple H replacing Vince will do anything to eliminate that cartoonish vibe from sports-entertainment...it will only further that stereotype; I was hoping that Shane would be the guy that moves the WWE away from that public perception. how much can a 22 year old possibly know about the personality of vince sr, who happened to die long before you were born? or about what the general consensus was on a company during that time? anyway as soon as i saw this thread i knew it would be rampant with ridiculous 'he must hate vince', 'he must hate hhh/steph', 'he must hate the current product' stuff, its almost as if the iwc thinks anyone who they like has to have the same opinions on things as they do that aside, its a real shame to see him go as he was my favorite mcmahon and someone who i was always happy to see show up, but im sure the door will always be open for him to come back, im amazed he's even stayed this long, if i had that kind of fortune to fall back on i wouldnt have worked a day in my life
