I'm a little disheartened that since Shane won't be running the company, Rodney and Pete Gas won't get cushy jobs.

That's huge, huge news and a total shock. I do hope, however unlikely it is, that he goes to TNA, transforming the company into a viable competitor to the WWE - because that'd certainly be more interesting than a move into MMA or another business not connected to wrestling at all. That would be great. TNA could use the rub of a McMahon not named Vince or Stephanie. TNA would have to do EVERYTHING right for the next 10 years in order to have a chance to be a viable competitor to the WWE. And the WWE would have to slip up pretty bad at the same time. As it stands, TNA seems content to keep doing what they're doing, and staying a distant second to the WWE. No McMahon rub can stop that.

I honestly don't think this is fake. There is little to gain from doing a "fake Shane retirement" and even less from buying up businesses that market themselves as alternatives to WWE.

This is a total shock, but in hindsight, maybe it shouldn't be that shocking.
Remember Shane during the InVasion? He could cut a pretty convincing promo, seemed like he was really into it, and that he was having fun out there. But the last few times Shane has shown up, his promos have taken a huge dive. He sounds more like he's reading lines than emoting. He can't even punch correctly. It's like Vince booked Shane to be a powerhouse to make him feel better.
I don't think he had it in him for the past 2-3 years. And it's particularly sad when he's starting to gray and he won't change his gimmick of rich spoiled brat, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who does occasional high risk moves.

This is not completely surprising, in all honesty. Shane is a smart guy and has clearly worked hard on the production side of WWE. He could probably be just as much an asset on any television production team. This may sound silly, but I could just as easily see him working behind the camera at CNN or any of the other news networks. Shane's specialty is in the technical side of things, managing people and equipment. I do not think he is going to go form some new wrestling fed, or join TNA. Rather, I expect he simply reached one of those points in life that everyone comes to at some time or another where we ask ourselves "Is this all I want out of life?" He has decided he wants to try things other than wrestling. I would not be amazed if his decision was in no small part influenced by his mom's decision to try her hand at politics. Its called looking to new horizons. More power to him.

They should've done a storyline that had him selling his shares of the company to Orton. Naturally, the WWE would swerve us and have the shares go to Hornswoggle.

This sort of sucks because I was holding out hope that he would take over wwe since he seems to have a good head on him, especially compared to his sister and vince. Now if something suddenly happens to vince, it all goes to steph and that is scary.

Anybody discussing even the possibility of Shane going to TNA need to start thinking logically and not as a fantasy booker.

Gotta say, at first I was shocked but, after think about it, I am not. He is a guy that loves MMA and wrestling, not sports entertainment. Add in that he seems to be the most laid back of the McMahons, hell he let Steph jump him for power, and he really doesn't seem to fit into WWE.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up next. He has a great business mind and a lot of cash.

Which one of us edited the wiki article so that Shane's name is Snane?

I'm sad to see him go, Shane was always my favorite McMahon. Now, how much of that is him as a person and how much of that is an on-screen character, I'll never really know.
