That's huge, huge news and a total shock.
I do hope, however unlikely it is, that he goes to TNA, transforming the company into a viable competitor to the WWE - because that'd certainly be more interesting than a move into MMA or another business not connected to wrestling at all.

Wow...that's shock. My only hope is that WWE doesn't face the scenario of being sold at some point in the future. Good luck to Shane-O.

I have to LOL at the 'This is one step closer to the death of WWE' and 'I wish Steph resigned' posts.
Firstly, it's nowhere near the death of the company. And nobody knows exactly how good Steph is. Nobody knows how creative Shane is. By all accounts it's Steph that's shown the passion to learn as much about the business as possible from Vince and shown a real desire to take over, when Shane has never really wanted to.
Fair play to him, it's interesting, but if we are a step closer to HHH taking some higher position of influence in the company then I'm all for it. Steph has learnt from Vince and HHH has a good mind for the business, it could work very well indeed when Vince steps down.

Just because we find out about it does not make this a sudden move. I'm sure WWE has known this was coming for some time.
More than likely he wants to make something of his own or spend time with his kids. Either way, good for him. However, it would be good ol' fun if Shane bought TNA or ROH and decided to compete against dear old Dad.

Maybe he saw the writing on the wall. You mean the stuff that said "Divas having sex with Dave Batista is not only encouraged, it's allowed!"

I remember writing a thread YEARS ago about how if theres anyone that can go directly against Vince, its Shane.
This is bad for the WWE. Shane has seemingly been the voice of reason for years, and is very in touch with what todays fans want. This is very, very good for any company that picks Shane up.
But if he goes into something like MMA...well, I'm usually not the one to cry about the sky falling, but...

I don't think Dana White or the Fertitta brothers would want him as a part owner of UFC. They are trying very hard to make MMA a legit sport and having a McMahon involved wouldn't help that, unfair as that may be. Now Strikeforce on the other hand...

us.wwe.com/inside/news/shanemcmahonresigns"I have never even considered a future outside the walls of the WWE. However, sometimes life takes an unexpected turn ..." That sounds like something you'd say if you had cancer or something, but I'm not starting any rumors, just saying.

Honestly, I think Shane getting involved in another wrestling company would drive people away. A few weeks of spiked numbers, maybe, but the core audience would roll their eyes and figure, how long until the simulcast? A lot of TNA's history has been built on their being the alternative to the name McMahon. ROH, similarly, has built itself as the alternative to sports entertainment. I'm not sure about their short-term health with a McMahon buying in.
I'm guessing he just wants to live a decent life after hectic years working for his dad.
