After the WWE almost got into trouble with the Trump buying Raw storyline, I don't see them tempting it again. They're announcing the resignation of someone high up in the company. It's not a work, because as a traded company they could get into trouble for misleading investors. This is the same company who thought it would be an awesome idea to air a terrorist angle on the day of an actual terrorist attack. You are being disingenuous. The terrorist storyline was filmed days BEFORE the attack and they didn't have a chance to edit it out of some airings of the show. Get your facts straignt. |

I think Shane was tired of seeing the product go no way. I mean he has alot of ideas but they get shot down. He wanted a developmental in country once. NO!!! Have working deals with oversea promotions. NO!! Heres Steph idea bring back DX. YES!! Hey lets have Cena vs Orton for the 90th time. YES!!!

Just out of interest (and boredom) I decided to look at WWE stock and well since the announcement stock has gone no where but up and fast. That can only mean one thing........

I didn't think Shane would just cash in his chips and leave... unless there was some major sibling conflict. I like Shane (though I could help but hate his guts on T.V., because he's a damn good heel). This is a real shock. I'm too scared to think of what this damn company's going to look like in 2010. |

Well, it could still be argued that using terrorism as a part of a story on a wrestling show shouldn't have happened in the first place. You can tell Shane's not as heartless as Vince and Steph. I hope he have fun with his new project. He should feel left out. I mean he's older then Steph and smarter. He probably got offered a job with a major TV network / media conglomerate. He deals with them on a daily basis and he probably was offered a golden bridge to leave.
Maybe he saw more upward mobility in his career outside of WWE and he would be right.
I always heard how Shane would replace Linda and Stephanie & Triple H would replace Vince. Well, Linda left, and Shane has not taken Linda's place. Maybe he saw it as a sign of a glass ceiling, and left as well.
WWE is gonna suffer from this, Shane McMahon did so much to expand the busiess all over the world and through different medium. But then again, maybe he knew he did as much as he could do and decided to tackle a new challenge.
Something weird I noticed in his word to the fans: Did I read that right or does he NOT mention his mother and sister? Only Vince. I thought that was weird. No mention of his immediate family either, no mention of Marissa or little Declan.
And the warmest thanks go to the wrestlers?

They've already brought in his replacement. He's a little odd though, he insists on wearing a mask, and nobody knows his first name, they just call him Mr. Stamford.
Weirdest thing is he does a great impression of that dance Shane always did.

The announcement of Shane McMahon's decision to leave World Wrestling Entertainment was a big surprise to fans as well as most people within the company. As noted previously, all indications are that this is a legitimate move and not part of a storyline, as the company made the announcement on their corporate website.
It's worth noting that WWE had USA Network issue a press release when Donald Trump purchased Raw from Vince McMahon, but that news was never published on the corporate website for obvious reasons.
I've yet to hear from anyone who knows the story on why Shane has decided to leave the company. Vince has been tough on Shane over the years and it's possible that played a part in his decision to walk away. It's also possible that he simply wants to pursue other interests. Shane is obviously set for life financially and he's never done anything outside the company. A new challenge might excite him.
Shane is a huge fan of UFC and mixed martial arts. He's known for hanging out with various fighters when they are in the New York area. He urged his father to get involved with mixed martial arts to no avail a few years ago, so I guess we can't rule out some type of career in an existing MMA group or even Shane launching his own company.

I never actually thought that Shane would look to run the WWE whenever Vince finally stepped down (or more likely passed away), so in that respect this isn't such a big shock. I never believed he'd stay forever.
All the same, still notable that it's finally happened. And I think there is definitely something else that Shane wants to do, away from pro wrestling, for a while.
