One of my favorites. Didn't like when I first saw it, but over time it grew on me.

Bored the crap out of me. If it was paced a lot better then I wouldn't have any problems with it.

Me too... Quick question: This film pegged Leo DiCaprio as a teeny bopper heart-throb, which he eventually grew out of, going on to star in some pretty damn good movies. TWILIGHT has done the same to Robert Pattinson....is it fair to say that he COULD take the same career path? Or has playing the same character in a series SERIOUSLY typecast Pattinson forever?

I like it, although it would have been interesting if they had focused on Captain Smith or Thomas Andrews instead of introducing some lame love story.

Leo had good critical buzz prior to his "heart-throb breakout" (including Oscar and Golden Globe nods), which was really with Romeo + Juliet. Pattinson's only major role prior to Twilight was Cedric Diggory in a Harry Potter movie, and the main purpose of his character was to get killed by Voldemort- so he doesn't seem to have the Leo street cred.

It was well made, and a decent watch- especially the aforementioned Winslet's nudity; that said having seen it once and enjoying it for what it was, I never need to see it again; and since Kate gets nekkid a lot, I never have to.

My ex-girlfriend loved the movie so much, she dumped me for a guy who vaguely resembles DiCaprio.
I hate Titanic.

Its a brilliant technical achievement, but that's about it. The dialogue is ridiculous.

I always loved the guy doing the 1080 half gator right into the propeller. *bonk*
That and the totally weird ending.

Answer: {Spoiler}I liked Kate Winsley's tits That's it You know, the Reader is a fine film. Quills as well. Though both of those are a little creepy. Also, I enjoyed Titanic.

Its biggest problem is that it's way too long. Taking a cliche romance plot and stretching it over three hours just doesn't work. That said, the movie isn't bad. It's just not particularly good.

Loved it.
I feel like it sufferes from the same thing 'Friends' does.
Suddenly, reverse nostalgia kicks in and suddenly its not cool to like it, so some (key word, *some*) people pretend as if theyve always hated it

How many Oscars did it win? It must have not been quite as dreadful as many people are making it out to be. Also, I must mention how glad it makes me to see people appreciating a plus sized actress like Winslet, instead of making cracks about how she's "teh FATTTZORZZZZ!". I will always and forever think the BRIDGETT JONES people made a horrid mistake not casting Kate as Bridgett.

I still say switch the scene from a boat to a bar. Every girl that thinks it's a romantic movie would just think Rose was a slut.

Not Cameron's best, but man...the ending always gets to me. {Spoiler}The camera slowly pans on Rose as it shows all her photographs of her life that she lived without Jack. Now the next part is debatable but to me I think she does exactly what Jack told her and that was die an old lady warm in her bed. She goes to heaven which manifests itself into the Titanic and everyone who died on the voyage is there waiting for her, but at the top of the staircase is Jack after all these years ready to join her again. And all the while James Horner's score drives the emotion home.

Kate Winslet is HARDLY plus sized, she is more in line with "average," but that is personal opinion. 2. I don't think the Oscars ALWAYS go to the best in their appreciative categories, and I think that while Titanic was a call back to the ol' days with the big sweeping melodramas, it was not deserving of the accolades it got. Certainly, overall, a good movie, well acted and technically sound. Consensus is not a fact based exercise.

Certainly, overall, a good movie, well acted and technically sound. Consensus is not a fact based exercise. 1. I was going by Hollywood standars, in which case she IS considered to be "plus sized". I'm a guy who likes girls like Kerry Marie, and Nadine Jansen, next to whom Kate looks like a rail. So I see what you're saying, but for my purposes, she IS on the bigger end of the scale here. "Average" in Hollywood is Nicole Kidman, Kate Bosworth, and Reese Witherspoon. 2. Yeah, I get that, and I agree that the best film doesn't always win...but in TITANIC's case...I think it did. Personally, the only other nominated film I would have gone with over TITANIC would have been LA CONFIDENTIAL. Shows my tastes, huh?
