Why are people getting so up in arms about this movie? Let's see, first picture in 12 years for the director of Terminator, Terminator 2, Aliens, The Abyss, oh and that giant boat movie that's still the all-time box office champ. Yes even The Dark Knight had to tap out to someone. Yeah I don't get it either. I was disappointed that it wasn't about "The Last Airbender," an Avatar movie that stands a chance to get my money. Yes, from director M. Night Shymalan. It'll make back its budget. By the next Presidential election.

the ending has already been leaked Ha! ;D That was good. Look I'm not one of those nerds who already claiming its the worst thing since AIDS or that its the best thing since sliced bread. Complete nonsense and waste of anyone's time. I just think, it could go either way. At the least, I think with Cameron's (mostly darn good) filmography, he deserves at least a fair chance. A shake. Not already calling it a waste of time unseen (like the CHUD website) or good because of said director's involvement.

FSin - You know what I don't get?
Why did the studio hire him?
Shymalan his first few movies...no not his biggest fans, but I did enjoy going to see them. There were their own cinema identity, and not always worked, but overall I enjoyed them. Then he does The Village, which not as bad as everyone claims but its not a good sign when everyone and their mother called out the ending in the 1st Act.
Then Lady in the Water drowned on all fronts, and less said about killer ferns movie the better.

As if that's ever stopped anyone around here. Anyways, looks like a decent movie to me, so I'll go see it eventually, regardless of the hate it gets from others.

I honestly didn't realize it was being that hyped. Looks like an ok flick I may or may not see; but I guess I've been outta the loop, as like I said I didn't even know there was that much buzz- good or ill.

You mean without inflation adjusted, a movie that came out 11 years earlier, when ticket prices were cheaper, still made more money than TDK?

You mean without inflation adjusted, a movie that came out 11 years earlier, when ticket prices were cheaper, still made more money than TDK? Yep. But when you adjust for inflation, TDK drops to 27, Titanic to 6, and Gone with the Wind to 1.

Yeah, Gone with the Wind sold more tickets than any other film in history did. Also, it's like the greatest film, from the greatest year in film.
Titanic, eh. That was a weird year in film.
Honestly, I can't figure out what the film is about. Is it a cartoon, a Space marine adventure, what?

To co-opt what someone else earlier said here:
Looks like Dances with Wolves in outer space.
Which might or might not be a good thing.

Didn't everyone say the same thing about Titanic? No, I remember everyone leaping on the Titanic bandwagon, claiming it was going to be awesome long before the actual movie came out. As far as Avatar goes...I hope it's not a flop, but the trailer seemed to scream "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones!!!!!!!!" to me...and that's NEVER a good sign.

Didn't everyone say the same thing about Titanic? No, I remember everyone leaping on the Titanic bandwagon, claiming it was going to be awesome long before the actual movie came out. I was around then too, and I don't remember that bandwagon only till after opening weekend. When audiences turned out in exit surveys to like it. Until then, it was considered Cameron's white elephant. All the reported production troubles, a $200+ million price tag for a movie where everyone knows the ending, etc. Kinda in some ways (but not the exact same) reminds me of the heat Avatar is getting. Where the reported (insane) budget and problems are getting more press than whatever its decent or trash. Most movies don't escape that whirlwind of bad press. Some do escape, like Apocalypse Now. And Titanic. But they're the exceptions. I mean heck even that director of The Last Castle, when he was a film critic, famously predicted that Titanic would be the biggest box-office flop of all time.

The only thing I'm wondering about is this... why release a mediocre game BEFORE the movie comes out, thereby draining any enthusiasm for the movie itself? Isn't that shooting yourself in the foot right off? I understand the desire to make a ton of money, but I think that you'd make more if the game is released AFTER the movie is released... "You've seen the movie, now LIVE IT!".
Unless they realized that the movie itself is a steaming pile of Smurf turds... Then they'd want to cash in as quickly as possible...
