Well since I'm spending my fourth Thanksgiving in a row all alone, I thought I'd start this cheary thread. Anyway, I'm watching a Twilight Zone marathon on KTLA and needless to say there are a bunch of downer endings.
One of the worst I think is the one based in the future when they have made this transformation process where when people get to a certain age their minds are transferred to these identical idealized body. Throughout the episode there is this one girl who does not want to go through the process, who everyone thinks is crazy. Throughout the course of the episode we find out that this world which looks ideal has banned literature (including Shakespeare and the bible IIRC) and a larger authoritatize government is hinted at. However, in the end she decides to go throught the transformation anyway rather than hold on to her beliefs as an individual.

The series finale of Six Feet Under. I mean it was brilliant and it was probably how things should have ended, but I've never cried harder watching something on TV than I have, and do, every time I watch that.

The most recent series of Torchwood was full of death and despair. {Spoiler}It ended with Jack leaving the earth a broken man after the death of his boyfriend and killing his grandson, that wasn't even the saddest part of the episode.

The Shield was a pretty big downer. Ronnie goes to jail, Shane kills his wife and son, and Vic is alone and forced to do a job he hates.

There was all the time I needed... ! It's not fair!"

Any of you watch Moral Orel? There are plenty of depressing endings. That's what makes the show funny.
