They like no running water, plumbing, heat and air, and electricity? They have all that. Oldschool in a sense of No skyscraper type buildings, The Latverians want for nothing. Well, it looks medieval, so I just figured.

I'd be shocked to find out he has a fan

Yeah, Superboy-Prime has gotten ridiculous. He was rather intriguing when he made his heel turn in Infinite Crisis, and I liked the fan analogy that was made with him and the point it was trying to get across (the Silver Age wasn't as great as you all remember it, and comics had to grow up).
But somewhere along the way it became too much, and the analogy was twisted around. Around the time of Legion Of 3 Worlds, it morphed into "you online fans are ungrateful geeks!" and he became the DC Universe's Comic Book Guy: A way for the writers to deflect any and all criticism among their fanbase.

Yeah, that's the really infuriating thing about the character. Nobody at DC can see that Superboy-Prime is actually more representative of the current braintrust than the fans themselves. From retcon punches to viciously murdering anyone who made their debut from 1986 to 2004, Dan DiDio IS Superboy-Prime.

While I agree that he's never really had a shining moment, I think there's an interesting kernel of an idea with Ventriloquist and Scareface that if in the right context could be a good story. Maybe nothing ground-breaking or a huge arc or anything.. but something. I agree with you Slim. I think it's a simular dynamic that Two-Face has. However instead of both personalities being contained in one man, and one personality usually showing up at once, the Ventriloquist has two distinct personalities that are ALWAYS present and can only be embodied through different channels. It's an intresting aspect of psychosis to me.

Well he was great in those.
It's everything afterward, starting with Countdown, that's tripe.

So I take this thread is about villians that have X-Pac heat/hate, not real heat/hate.

Doctor Light, not so much for the actual character, just the offensive piece of s*** story he was in, and what they made the character do in Identity Crisis. {Spoiler}His powers are rape.

I actually thought that Dr. Light's reimagining had a lot of potential. as arguably tasteless as the rape was, it was cool to see a joke villain with actually good powers start using them effectively. then he got turned into the incredible Rapist-Lad and it all snowballed from there.

If Winnick in his bad phase *Winnick is a good writer but for awhile their I don't know what the f*** was going on* hadn't been the first person to get ahold of him after IC it probably wouldn't have been so bad.

Im halfway convinced that Judd Winnick and Jeph Loeb are having a contest to see who can mischaracterize and derail more characters in less time and still somehow get cushy writing assignments.

Winnick is actually getting back to being a decent writer though, albeit slowly. His Detective run looked like it was going to be good but he was kicked off for Daniel, which is a bad switch, especially with Daniel just going BOOM! Riddler is evil now!

well that's what happens when you ask a penciller to start writing stories for you. hey it worked for Rob Liefeld on X-Force.
