An absolute joke of a match and reading the Guardian and the BBC's view of the match I see it is the majority view. Utd had a penalty turned down that should have been, Rooney was flagged offside when through on goal despite being miles onside and Chelseas goal has a multitude of illegal actions. It was never a free kick, Drogba pulled Wes Brown down and then was offside when he swung a boot at it and so became active. It was little things as well that showed how awful this Ref was. In the first half John Terry and Ashley Cole clumsily ran into each other and the Ref stopped play even though it wasn't a head injury. Then in the 2nd half Giggs got a head injury after colliding with the Chelsea RB and the Ref played on. We deserved to lose at Liverpool but today we were the better team and I feel cheated. The ref was awful today. Drogba got kicked in the chest and then gets booked for it? That card will surely be rescinded.

Chelsea 1-0 up over Manchester United through John "My Dad's A Drug Dealer, My Mum's A Shop Lifter" Terry. No need for that mate. Massive win. Awful game, but a massive, massive win. He'll be getting it loads when Arsenal win in three weeks.

I would agree with you on the penalty, but not much else there. Chelsea's goal: Fletcher did commit a foul, Drogba was not offside. You need to actually touch the ball to be considered active (that's what the refs say anyway) so he wasn't interfering with play, thus not offside. It doesn't NEED to be a head injury for the play to be stopped. If a player is down for a sufficient amount of time, it is the referee's judgment on whether the match be stopped or not. If it's a head injury the match MUST stop. In other words, if that Eduardo injury had happened due to a collision between two Arsenal players, the ref would have had a right to stop the match in spite of it not being a head injury. And Man U were absolutely terrible. Never even looked like scoring until... as much as I hate to say it... Owen came on. (Though I reckon it was more down to Obertan than Owen in fairness)

I wouldn't say Man Utd were terrible, I'll happily admit that they were the better side, particularly first half.
Then again, Man Utd have had a hell of a lot of luck in recent times. Its the fact that Chelsea didn't play particularly well but still got a win that emphasises my belief that they will be champions this year.

Chelsea appear to be the team to beat at the top this season. I think if Arsenal are to REALLY mount a title contention this season they have to beat them in a few weeks time.

(Though I reckon it was more down to Obertan than Owen in fairness) You were obviously watching a different match if you think Utd were terrible. We were by far the better team. As for the ref stopping play the point I am making is that when a Chelsea player was injured, even though it was by another Chelsea player, he stopped play But then Giggs was injured and on the floor he carried on play. And you don't have to touch the ball to interfere ith play. Blackburn had a goal disallowed at Sunderland this season because A player tried to head the ball in as it was crossing the line. He didn't touch it but it still counted and the ref disallowed it.

Third one - can't agree with you there. I vaguely remember this Blackburn goal, and I'm fairly sure (not 100% mind you) that after the match the analysis was that the referee got that one wrong, because the referee had believed that he HAD touched it.

EoE, I can only assume that Shane Smeltz is still the best attacker in the A-League?

EoE, I can only assume that Shane Smeltz is still the best attacker in the A-League? Yes. As a matter of fact, here's the list. 11 - Shane Smeltz (Gold Coast) 8 - Robbie Fowler (North Queensland) 7 - Sergio van Dijk (Brisbane) 6 - Mark Bridge (Sydney), Carlos Hernandez (Melbourne) 5 - Archie Thompson (Melbourne), Matt Simon (Central Coast), Paul Ifill (Wellington)

I wonder how many times this season Fergie can get away with slagging off the official before he actually gets a punishment. Chelsea, CSKA, Liverpool, Sunderland... 4 times within 3 months ain't bad going without being punished at all.

To be fair I thought the ref was awful yesterday and that free kick shouldn't have been given. United should have had a pen against CSKA and maybe against Liverpool too. Can't believe I'm sticking up for Sir Alex or Utd but when the refs are that rubbish its hard not to.

Woah, Peterborough United have apparently parted with Darren Ferguson? Seems pretty sudden if you ask me.

Listen even though I support Utd there have been many times when I have been frustrated when Fergie would come out and moan about Refs when there was no need to and the Sunderland game was a case in point. We were awful and the ref had nothing to do with us being awful. However in the last 2 weeks we have been denied 3 blatant penalties against Liverpool, CSKA Moscow and now Chelsea.

Can't wait for all the Arsenal and Man U fans to come in here and rant on how evil Ngog and Liverpool are for the dive that saved their season (so far).
