This has been grinding on me for a few weeks, and my friends seem to agree with me, but does anyone else feel it has run its course?
To me it seems as if they have no long term plan/strategy for Raw, the analogy I used to explain it is in sports, if a team sacks a coach/manager, a caretaker boss is employed to keep the ball rolling by getting results (ratings) on a game to game (episode to episode) basis, thus allowing time to find a new boss who will install a new long-term strategy for the team. I mean when you look at a few successful storylines in recent history, it does involve a leader/focal point in the company, for example Austin/Vince and Bischoff with the NWO; think about the heat Vicky got when she was with Edge, or the McMahon-Helmsley era, it just makes sense to me to have a person at the top to bounce storylines off with the talent, as opposed to numerous plugs and people I (personally) have never heard of.
Just wondering what the thoughts of people are to that

I'm not necessarily sick of the Guest Host thing, but I am sick of it being the same thing every week more or less. Each week the guest hosts do the exact same things with the exact same people.
It's like they have an all encompassing guest host angle booklet and they just plug in the different host each week to the same storylines.
If they would vary what the hosts do, it would keep me interested in it. And God forbid making one play the heel role and not just pander to DX, Cena, Hornswoggle, etc.

I hated the guest host idea from the start.

Considering most of the guest hosts have been people I dont care about, yeah.
It was cool a couple times, like when Shaq hosted, but its made me stop watching RAW.
If they cant get any real celebs to host whats the point?

I like the guest hosts, but I agree that they're basically xeroxing the skits and such with them each week with the specifics just tweaked to accommodate whoever it is's particular thing.
Like the thing with every single guest host always being greeted by Big Show and Jericho first. You can probably count the amount that haven't on one hand, and even then they always inevitably get a segment with the two of them at some point.

I like it for the most part.
I realize they can't have A-listers all the time and they do allow the host to promote whatever their current personal agenda is.
It's something different and adds a new level to the show. I wish they would switch up what goes on though.

One of the reasons I barely watch Raw anymore.

I'm not so much sick of the guest host run, but the fact that every week they do the same exact thing, ie: a skit with Santino, talking with DX, Hornswoggle shows up, etc.

It's fallen into a rut, likely because WWE don't feel comfortable giving the hosts too much to do/say in case they flub it up.

I'm sick of it the sense I feel in some cases, maybe all cases, it takes away promoting PPV's right.
I'll try and explain it the best I can. I feel if RAW had a normal GM, PPV set up and hype would be better because you wouldn't have a Celeb messing up the name, making PPV matches and not taking serious because you don't take the Celeb GM seriously like you would a real GM, like Long, Heyman and Bischoff. Yes, I know it's not real, but having a GM character makes it feel real.

I like the idea. And some of the hosts did really well in the role (Shaq, Barker, Rothelisberger were the stand outs so far, and a few others), but the formula is basically the same everytime out. Maybe they could switch it up. But more often than not, I've enjoyed the guest hosts.

They really should try to do it once a month, maybe the Raw after each PPV. That way, they could make sure they have someone good, be it a WWE hall of famer or at least a pretty well known celebrity within the target demo (in other words, NOT Nancy O'Dell), and they wouldn't have to allot all that time to a celebrity each week. Also, they could then determine if the guest host actually helps their ratings or now.

Al Sharpton was the beginning of the end of it. The line flubbing NASCAR guys who's names I don't even remember didn't help. And Ozzy, who was cool like 20 years ago and became a joke on reality TV was about all I can stand.

im sick of the GM concept period. TNA at a recent point had 5! boss characters on impact at one time. Even with Jarrett,Cornette gone and Angle not the champ, they still have Foley and Dixie with Hulk on the way. Its tired and weve seen more Austin-McMahon rehashes than we have of Montreal. WWE can just have the "board of directors" make all of the matches. Problem solved.

Just wondering what the thoughts of people are to that I just wish they'd go back to the days when there wasn't an on-screen figurehead and simply a nebulous, vague "board of directors" or "championship committee" running things. Or, if you must have a figurehead, follow the Jack Tunney/Gorilla Monsoon model and only have them appear for big occasions. There doesn't need to be a person calling the shots on-screen every week. The whole authority figure on-screen persona is played out worse than "Don't Stop Believin'" - except I acknowledge that it's overplayed and I still love the song anyway. The GM role? Not so much. I like Teddy Long, though. He's the only one I'd keep, and I'd either make him THE figurehead who makes the occasional appearance or I'd send him back to managing. Also, I'd keep Tiffany on as a diva. She's yummy. EDIT: Dang! Beaten to it by dh03grad. He's right, though.

I might be the only one but the idea itself is a real big turn-off for me as a fan. Like, I'll remember there's gonna be a guest host and it makes me want to NOT watch. However, strangely enough, it seems like some of them have been pretty solid. Even better than what RAW was at months ago without the guest-host gimmick. That being said, maybe tone it down a bit, ya know? Have a guest once a month. Every two weeks or something.

Now if they got Legends to do it, it'd work fine...
