From this week's RAW recap on the Observer site:
What the hell is his problem? Did he even watch ECW where he had a very entertaining feud with Goldust, restoring the veteran's credibility and coming off strong at the same time?

Maybe we can have Bryan Danielson play the world's smallest violin for him so he can give it 5 stars.

I don't like Todd Martin's reports - you're meant to tell us what happened, not give us your own little snide remarks on the side. I happen to think that Sheamus has all three qualities, he's a great big man, he gets reaction from crowds, and he cut a good promo at Survivor Series, and I think last night too (haven't seen RAW yet). Plus he isn't really that hurt losing a Tables match to Cena as long as it's competitive.

Just to clarify, this is not Dave Meltzer's Raw report but is the work a dude named Todd Martin. He tends to be very harsh when it comes to certain things, and has some strange opinions at times.

Did Sheamus use the Irish Curse on his dog or something?

Sheamus doesn't have to win the feud to come up with a major rub. As long as they don't bury him, it could be really good for him.
Isn't this what we've been clamoring for? A veteran to really put over a new kid? Austin didn't win Mania 13, after all. . .
(and no, Sheamus is not Austin - but it remains true that you don't have to "win" to win)

Plus, when even non-wrestling fans are commenting on how marvelous your facial hair is you're doing something right (don't ask, but it happened).

Losing to Lesnar, Angle, and Undertaker, Cena had a chance to get over along with his rap gimmick, and it can be argued Miz got such a rub from Cena, since it did lead, albeit not directly, to him being US champion. It can be done, but it oculd also lead to Sheamus being like Kozlov, and losing his steam. That being said, Sheamus is a more talented wrestler, so he could be used significantly easier.

I would argue with his point that he has no wrestling ability; I think Sheamus can be very entertaining in the ring.

I think Kozlov does have wrestling talent. What he doesn't have is any kind of personality. The only time I can remember him being compelling to watch was at NWO - and there were 5 other guys in that match. (Aside: I just rented the NWO DVD, so I may watch it tonight for the first time in about 8 months - I might be remembering wrong, and Kozlov is boring in that one, too.) But to the other point re: Miz. I was just debating with someone that said Miz was ruined by the Cena squash. Maybe briefly. But he seems to be doing okay.

I think Miz is better off having had the feud than not. Maybe he didn't go to the main event, but out of him and Morrison, which one is more over in their role? Probably Miz. Kozlov isn't terrible or anything, he just doesn't have a ton of depth to him. He can do some neat things, but usually he does pretty much the same shtick.

In Miz's case, he benefited from the Cena feud in the sense that it got him heat. Honestly, up until the Cena feud did anyone expect Miz to do anything on Raw but job to... I dunno, Kofi? Primo? Festus?
Now, though, the guy's definitely over as a heel and, with a certainly audible percentage of the crowd, as a face.

Bah, he can't have heat with the Observor. The magazine isn't in the business, it just reports about it.
Sheamus is doing great; it's not his fault nor his problem that others aren't being pushed in a way that pleases the reporter. "I've been strongly advocating the eleveation of new wrestlers for ages"... wow, you and everyone else buddy. Things is, you have no input in the matter.

I usually hate Todd Martin's reports, but he's spot on here.
There's a difference between elevating a guy to the main event, and flatly hot shotting a guy there with absolutely no build. Kofi is the former. Sheamus is the latter. One will work. One won't. I'll let you decide which is which.

Few things are funnier than a self-righteous 'I only want the best for the company' reporter.

This is just to establish Sheamus as a threat down the road, not as the Next Big Red Thing quite yet.
I like the guy a lot, but he has no business taking the title from Cena at this point in time. All Sheamus needs to do is look strong before Cena pulls out a win by a hair.

All Sheamus needs to do is look strong before Cena pulls out a win by a hair. That's what I think will happen. I can also see Sheamus losing it when he gets put through the table, either putting Cena, or maybe a ref or something through a table himself, flipping over tabbles, just going nuts in some fashion.

My main problem with Sheamus is I don't think he knows how to sell very well......he barely acted like anything Goldust did to him phased him in that feud, unless that was the point....ugh
