Best wishes to Urban Meyer, that shocked me when I saw it on Twitter. I wonder if Fla, completely let him out of his deal or just let him step down as coach but, he stays on in some capacity?
As for Fla, I would be happy to give you Big Blue's head coach. Hell, we'll even pay his salary.

So he can lose big games for them? He does have a National Championship win as head coach of the University of Oklahoma and as Defensive Co-ordinator for the Florida Gators. I know, and... so what? He won in 2000 with a team that did very well and achieved a lot more than they should have that he didn't recruit (and not without shutting out the number two team in the nation from the game). He's recruited top talent, but the Sooners have been embarrassed more times than most teams that have been ranked as high as they have been.

Because he is a good head coach. You are seriously going to come in here and tell me, as well as lot of people on here, that if Bob Stoops wanted to coach for your team.....you would turn him down. Get the hell out of here!!!!

While Stoops didn't recruit all the players on the 2000 National Championship team, he has brought Oklahoma to being a big time program again. The guy has built Oklahoma into one of the top 5 programs in the nation. He can come into Florida and handle the pressure of the Gators job. I'm a Oklahoma fan, and you won't catch me say anything bad about Stoops. For the reason that he built the program back into being a top 5 program.

SMU is the only one to get the Death Penalty, and the last Divison 1 school to get it. I thought Baylor was going to get it a few years ago, but that's another sport entirely. Oklahoma was on probation for 5 years, thanks to Barry Switzer.

According to the ever so reliable Kirk Herbstreet, Meyer's health issues are all stress related and, acquired in the last 4 years.

It is a shocker and a dissapointment that a man who is basically a Florida head coach for life has to leave now, but if it really is for his health....I understand and hope he stays healthy in his new position with the school.

Also says he'd stay with the school. Something stinks here. What do you mean by that? Do you mean Urban Meyer is up to something or that Urban is in bad shape. I cannot speak for Ani but, I would say Kirk Herbstreet is doing his usual "talk out your ass and hope a gem comes a flyin'" act.

Oh I thought he might be saying that he does not believe Urban will be staying with the program and is just using this as a way to get out of his contract so he can go to another team.

No, wasn't saying that... Though it wouldn't surprise me these days.

espn4d Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel cites sources saying next UF coach will not be Charlie Strong. Nah.....really? I mean...how long has he been with Louisville? A month or less? Did some idiot really think Charlie Strong would quit Louisville to coach Florida after he signed a contract with Louisville.

Allegedly he's working under something similar to what Billy Gillispie had here at UK. If it's true, there isn't much Louisville could have done to stop him from going back.

Why do you think Oklahoma fights hard to keep Bob Stoops? Because he is a good head coach. You are seriously going to come in here and tell me, as well as lot of people on here, that if Bob Stoops wanted to coach for your team.....you would turn him down. Get the hell out of here!!!! Why do I think they do? Because he won a National Championship in 2000. Would I turn him down if he wanted to coach at my school? Not at all. What I'm saying Oklahoma has been fighting more and more for a guy that's been doing progressively less and less with more and more at his disposal. He gave the program a shot in the arm. But they've been ranked highly at points these past few seasons only because they're Oklahoma, not because they've won the marquee match-ups that you expect from a top 5 team. You can blame that on anything you want, but Oklahoma isn't a top 5 program right now if their name is anything else. What I'm saying is that it wouldn't be the end-of-the-world disastrous for the team if he left to coach elsewhere. I think he's a good coach that made a school that is a traditional powerhouse back into one. But I think any number of coaches could have given the team the same shot in the arm. Do I think he's going to leave? Not at all, I think he's with the school for the long haul. I just don't think it's the death-blow to the program that Oklahoma fans think. SMU is the only one to get the Death Penalty, and the last Divison 1 school to get it. I thought Baylor was going to get it a few years ago, but that's another sport entirely. Oklahoma was on probation for 5 years, thanks to Barry Switzer. That's what I meant by.... Probation? That's just part of being a major college program and being caught doing the things that make you a major college program. The death penalty can destroy a team in a way probation couldn't.
