Dear God, this Urban Meyer stuff is getting insane. ESPN is covering this as if he died.

ESPN is reporting that Urban Meyer is not resigning. He's taking a leave of absence for 2010.

Jesus, is Russo writing this stuff? Meyer and his assistant will decide who becomes head coach in 2011 with a "Contract on a pole" match.

I was 100% behind Urban last night and bought in to all this, but this new bit of information is beginning to make me seriously have doubts. Basically he's handing the reigns of the team off to one of his closest assistant coaches for 2010, but he's staying close to the organization. The first Florida year without all universe QB Tebow, parts of that offense and defense leaving, and the first thing resembling a reloading year as Florida has had in a while. Then he wants to come back in 2011 "if he can".
Something about this is fishy to me. If these are all stress related problems as was stated, how will that change in 2011? The job doesn't get any less stressful. Basically, he avoids the first non-Tebow year, gives the team a year to get the new players plugged in and ready to go, and returns in 2011 after what could (theoretically) be a down year.
I'm RARELY Mr. Conspiracy, but this is starting to look a little off.

No mention of USC's win in the Emerald Bowl over Boston College? Not as long as Urban Favre is flip-flopping around.

Wait a second, the cameraman just pulled Meyer off the turnbuckle. And now he hits Meyer with the camera. What the hell?" *Cameraman pulls off his hat and mask* "That's Tim Tebow. Why is he doing this?" *Assistant coach pulls the contract down* "Urban Meyer will not be back at Florida. Tim Tebow has turned his back on Urban Meyer."

Meyer's situation is much different than Brett's. But it's still odd that Meyer only took 24 hours to change his mind. Why didn't he just go with "Indefinite leave of absence" from the beginning?

As was feared, following Kentucky's 21-13 loss to Clemson in the Music City Bowl (their first bowl loss in 4 years), Rich Brooks addressed the media and said he'll decide in 4-5 days, but that this was likely his final game as the Kentucky head coach. He's ready for retirement. I can't even say how much I'll miss this guy. He took over a program winning 2 games a year and the designated SEC doormat, and took them places they had never been in program history. Stocked the team with pros, got them to #8 at one point in the 2007 BCS standings. Beat the #1 ranked and eventual national champion LSU in 2007. Had the team ranked for the first time in ages. Won at Georgia and Auburn for the first time in 25+ years. Went to four straight bowl games and won three straight until the stumble tonight. This guy took a 2 win a year program and made them nationally relevant. Joker Phillips is a horrible offensive coordinator, and as head coach in waiting and I'm not optimistic. I fear tonight may have been UK's final game as a relevant team for a long time.
Thanks for the memories Rich.
