Though John Cena’s name has been absent from early rumors regarding WrestleMania, one should not assume he will not have a prominent role on the card. According to F4WOnline.com, WWE still hopes it can put together a dream match between The Rock and John Cena for the big spring event.
If that could not happen, the plan would be for John Cena vs. Batista.

I'm only for such a match up if it ends the following way: Rock Wins! Rock Wins! Rock Wins!

I think that is just wishful thinking on the WWE's part. I don't think Rock would come back to lose, and he seems to be grabbing movie role after movie role, so why should he? I've never thought the Rock was a sell out or he owed anything to the fans. I'm personally fine with Cena/Batista as I think they work well together.

I would imagine every year there is a plan in place just in case they can actually convince Rock to come back.

Cena going over The Rock would put him over as a huge heel, who could go on about how the "People" should appreciate him, since he's the Wrestler who beat the Sell-Out Actor, then turn on the fans who refuse to side with Cena.
But the WWE would probably just have The Rock beat Cena and the next night on RAW, Cena goes on about Hustle, Loyalty and Respect and things remain the way they are.
Sigh.

I'm only for such a match up if it ends the following way: Rock Taps! Rock Taps! Rock Taps! /Cole SCREAMING ;D Fixed Seriously though, I hope they get this match done for 2 reasons. 1.) It'd be awesome. 2.) We don't have to hear it anymore because it is already the new Hogan/Austin.

A smarter idea, one Rock would have better odds of agreeing to, although less of a money match, and less satisfying would be the simple "Rock teams with Cena vs Heels 1 and 2". Rock wins, still gets to give Cena some sort of rub, he probably wouldn't have to work as hard, and it'd still be a money matchup without making Cena a chump to put over a guy who AIN'T COMING BACK FOR GOOD.

Wheather The Rock agrees to or not, can he still go? I'd imagine after 7 years removed from being an active wrestler, he would have a serious case of ring rust by now.
Edit:Knowing WWE however, they'll definately end up getting a Cena/Batista match, or even a Triple H/Cena/Batista/Randy Orton type combo at Wrestemania.

I'd just have Cena snap after he can't beat the Rock at 'Mania. Part of the reason behind the heel turn being that the fans were behind that "sell out" rather than the guy who "gave them his life". That is how I'd book it anyway.

I know people would bitch, but Cena/Tista wouldn't be bad in my opinion. They had a good match at SummerSlam 08 and it would be a big rematch for WWE.

If no Rock/Cena I'd rather see Taker/Cena.

And this. Cena beating Rock looks nice on paper. But beating a guy who hasnt wrestled a match since 2004 (and had been away for the better part of the 2 years before that) does little for Cena's image. Cena losing to Rock is even worse. Although it's the some people's wet dream to have the Rock beat Cena, it would be an competely retarded idea that helps absolutely nobody

You're right about the second one in a way, but I rather hae Rock win, which will save the WWE humilation from trying to elevate Cena. Don't get me wrong, I like and respect John Cena, but he is NOT the boom period star WWE makes him out to be. Its only the booking, rather than Cena himself.

The problem is, The WWE would look stupid for having invested so much in Cena, only to have him lose to the guy that left wrestling to go make Disney flicks. It would hurt Cena, and make them look like jackasses

Whether it's truly good for either man's image or not, though; it would be a hell of a draw and would make big money for all involved. I'm pretty sure that would go before anything else, and it's not like the fans will just revolt if their favourite loses - life will go on and any damage can be undone. And if it can't - heel turn!
Nevertheless, I still doubt it will happen anytime soon, if ever; and this just seems like something to move along a slow news day. You can pretty much bet on any given year WWE has this somewhere in the backup plans. If anything I'm glad to know they haven't forgotten about Cena and Batista - for two big active stars they've only had one match together and even with it being surprisingly great, I still got the impression they were holding back. I'm not the biggest fan of either but as far as the current roster goes that's a match that just screams "Wrestlemania main event" - which can be hard to come by.
