Orlando Jordan. The butt of all jokes. How can anyone take him seriously?
This was my thoughts when I first saw him on TNA. I was like, "You paid money for Orlando Jordan?" I couldnt believe that TNA would waste TV time on this guy. I mean, he isnt even close to being somebody who can "bring in the ratings".
And yet, this week I was watching Impact! and Orlando Jordan wrestles Elijah Burke. Burke is one of my favorite stars of TNA, he is not a crapsack like a lot of guys on the TNA roster and he is, I dunno, 5000 times better than he was in WWE where he sucked. So, Orlando Jordan comes in and has a match...and its a completely different Orlando Jordan. He no longers looks retarded, but he actually seems to have some charisma. I think embracing who he is really helped him bring out his best. I think that he can really be a useful addition to TNA because his match was good, his character is good, he is not over the top and he meshes with Burke perfectly.
What I wants to see is Burke, being "The Pope", take Orlando Jordan under himself and have Jordan as his partner. Jordan can change his gimmick a bit and say that he has "embraced" the Pope's message, and they can be a pretty solid tag team. Much better than the Butter Boys (Nasty Boys, come on!). However, there is a problem.
Orlando Jordan is damaged goods. WWE completely embarrassed and ruined him on TV where he was one of the biggest jobbers of recent history. Of course it was a few years back, but for any true wrestling fan, its the first thing that comes to mind when they see Orlando Jordan. So can anyone EVER take him seriously again?
In my opionion, I think that yeah, if people are not prejudiced, then they can forget how WWE ruined him and just think of him as a new person because he looks totally reinvented himself and seems to be improved in the ring too. Him and Burke double teaming some tag teams in TNA or even singles wrestler could really raise his stock and respect too.
So, I think he is a worthy investment, what about you fellows?

Depends what you do with him. The advantage of not making a big impression elsewhere is that the slate is effectively clean to start a fresh.
There's no reason they can't make it work.

I thought OJ looked really good on Impact, and I'm happy I never dissed him on the boards yet cause I would have had to take all my words back.
Now I also think he should end up on the losing end of the Pope fued, but I like the idea of him ending up recieving the Pope's message.
I'd hate for them to tag however as I'm sick of every African American group of people having to tag. See Crime Time, Mark Henry and MVP, and Apollo Creed and Macho.
Maybe a bit of them covering each others back or respect bit. OJ is to shy to be on the mic also, or that is the impression I get from him. I certainly like his look and skills in the ring though.

He has to be booked as a good guy. Anyone with that stupid looking face, really cannot get away with doing anything THAT serious. Not knocking the guy as such, but that face wouldn't cut a 'mean' promo, would it?

Watching him walk to the ring this week, with his ugly girl braids (seriously, I've never seen a man with braids done up like that), his blank, charisma-averting expression, and his awkward pseudo-strut was one of the saddest things I've seen in recent memory. The fact that he went over (IMO) the most charismatic, promising, potentially-breakout star that company has right now is what makes it a small-scale, fanboy-tier tragedy.
No, there is no worth to having him there. Can he work? I suppose, but the company has a locker room bursting with dull, technically-competent young workers who would fill the role just as effectively. This is pure nepotism, and OJ will never draw a single person to watch, order or attend a TNA show.

On rajah....
Jordan was fired from the company on May 26, 2006 because he had been traveling with someone not authorized by the company.
Before his untimely release from the organization, there were creative plans for Jordan to be repackaged with a bisexual gimmick in a storyline that would have involved former TNA performer Stephanie Finochio (a/k/a Trinity) and a friend of his with no prior background in the wrestling industry. While bisexuality is considered taboo in some wrestling circles, it was passed for Jordan since it is his lifestyle in the real world. It should be noted that the storyline was Jordan's idea because creative team had no plans for him at the time.
Shortly after his departure from the organization, Jordan became embroiled in a bit of controversy online as he had uploaded photos of himself embracing two young males on his MySpace account. Furthermore, Jordan also uploaded nude photographs of himself to an account on the photo sharing website Photobucket.com. The images were discovered because Jordan also stored wrestling photos of himself on the account for his MySpace page.

Rajah will be telling us of the Pope's recent conversion to Catholicism next.

Why in god's name would you put the Orlando Jordan Albatross around the neck of The Pope? Don't team them. Have Pope end the feud successfully and then drop the dead weight. The roster's overcrowded anyways, please cut away some of the dead wood.

I thought he was fine in the ring on Impact, but his character is what I don't get. He seemed really somber after winning, almost like he was concerned for Pope, which leads me to believe that they might do an "Orlando wants the Pope" angle. Now, I would never think that if he wasn't bisexual, so that's probably just me.

I wasn't watching a lot of SmackDown during most of his run there, so I don't really get the eruption of rage the moment he steps on screen. I thought his match on Impact was fine. If he falls flat, he falls flat, but I've got no reason to hate him because he bored some people on a show I didn't watch 3-4 years ago.

He needs to ditch the Ric Flair robe and strut if they're doing the Nature Boy gimmick with Flair/AJ.

It all depends on how you use him. He looked okay on impact in ring, but he did seem subdued.

Let's put it this way...
he's considerably less grating than the Nasties and Sean Morely are at the moment.

Too early to say. He didn't look bad against Dinero, we'll see how he does in future matches.
At the moment I'd say no but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at the moment.

Honestly, when I think about Orlando Jordan, I think about Chris Benoit making coffee and taking a leak faster than his Summerslam match with Orlando Jordan. If TNA can make me shed that image of OJ, more power to them. However, putting him over Dinero on his first night was about the worst move they could have made, especially when the Impact Zone almost rioted when Morely pinned Daniels.

The guy somehow is over in like Spain. As good he did look against The Pope in the ring. He still was lacking everywhere else. The Pope as grown on me since coming to TNA. When I see him I see a star. But honestly I saw that in him in the WWE but he never got the chance in the WWE to really show it.
When I look at some of the guys TNA that where nothing in the WWE and something in TNA. Like the Pope, Tomko, and Matt Morgan. These two had the fact they where young and always had the potental. We knew Morgan had something as did a lot of others including Jim Cornette but the WWE didn't which proves the WWE CAN'T make a mistake when it comes to talent. That was because they have him a lame gimmick. Jordon however I never saw anything that said he could have been something. Morgan I saw it, I saw a big man who can go and without the suddering BS I felt he could been above average on the mic. The Pope I can tell he could talk and I saw him as a decent wrestler. He just didn't have much of a chance to show all of that. The New Breed angle came and went fast and that was it.
Now Tomko was another guy in that product that they did well in TNA and shook off the genertic WWE hoss. Up until he return to TNA. But we knew when he came to TNA it was going to be different only because we knew his improvement from Japan that he wasn't the same guy we saw in the WWE. Now he got out of shape and seemed to lost that focus he once had. But he is capable of being something good.

OJ is in the same boat as Sean Morley. WWE has destroyed both of them in my eyes, with OJ jobbing to Benoit and others on the way out and Morley being a WWE jobber for years before he was released. One thing Morley has going for him is he can wrestle a pretty good match, while OJ is awful in the ring.
It's amazing to me that a guy like Pope, who has charisma, good wrestling skill, and is over at the iMPACT Zone jobs to a guy who fans have no desire to see. I can only hope next week or so Pope gets his win back vs OJ.
