I'd like Piper in the color role....what about Dusty Rhodes? I'm just throwing some more names out there.... Jesse Ventura? Steve Austin? The Godfather? Mike Rotunda? Bret Hart? (Loooooong shot, I know, but still) Mick Foley? Terry Funk? I like everyone on that list for a color commentator, but especially Dusty. He would be awesome. Moreover, I just want Dusty Rhodes on my tv in any capacity.

In my eyes, Big Dust would be more than capable of filling JR's spot at the table.
Another choice would be to have Chris Nowinski and Piper at the table. How awesome would that be?

I HOPE this means he's going back to Talent Relations. He's sorely needed there. JR would only improve that department if he headed it up. As it stands, there's only one solution to that problem: wish Johnny Ass the best in all of his future endeavors. For replacing JR at the table, I agree with Piper or Snow. They'd know their stuff, and none of the WWE's 30-something metrosexual clones could replace Ross, so... Or they could bring Khali in for commentary and run an English translation bar across the screen; at least we'd have something funny on Raw each week. And Flair should stay in the ring as long as possible. I don't mind his man boobs; I'm too busy noticing that he's one of the few professional wrestlers in a company full of sports entertainers. Khali: GRAGGGGAGGGLLRRGGH! (Translation at bottom: OHWHATAMANEUVER!)

People seriously, Dusty "If you wheeeeeeeel" Rhodes?
It'd be entertaining for about half an episode and then it'd get annoying real quick. I still say Josh Mathews is the best choice.

I'm still thinking Al Snow on PBP and Mick Foley doing color could be pretty awesome. I haven't heard an Al Snow joke in too long.

Dusty, in my opinion, would be far better than Matthews. The last thing we need is another lame-ass Michael Cole wannabe at the announce table.
Don't get me wrong; announcing is HARD to do, and do well. But that's where Dusty has proven himself.
Personally, I'd love to have Ventura back, but people in Hell want cold water too. So that's why I included Dusty.

"If you wheeeeeel" > "BAH GAWD KING, CENA CENA CENA!" the difference between these two is "If you wheeeeeeeeel" accomplishes nothing and "BAH GAWD KING, CENA CENA CENA" helps to put over a main-event wrestler.

I've gotta say it's good it's happening if it does. I think JR needs to focus 100% on talent relations and get Johnny Ace the hell out of there already. Instead of firing him, give him the mic and allow him to thank the fans for all the great memories...since another firing would only look like another set up for him to come back.

Didnt they already do this angle? Anyways I predict a Shane-O Mac return to the broadcast table. On a similar note, I wonder if a female on play by play would work? I dont think thats ever happened. Wouldn't work, at least with King there, we'd have to deal with 684 remarks regarding puppies, etc. every episode.

Arn Anderson for color commentator. Do it! Do it! Now there's an idea. Arn would make a great play by play man.

what about having NO commentary. Just let the match speak for itself, and the wrestlers tell the story I remember the Smackdown where Heidnenreich had kidnapped Cole and Tazz went to go save him, there was no commentary in the match (I think it was the FBI V London and Kidman I think) and despite the fact I liked all 4 wrestlers, the match just didn't seem as entertaining. If they need a play by play man, send in Malenko. He knows his holds. ;D

Ya see if TNA signs Jim Ross, and puts JR in the commentator booth replacing both Tenay and DW, with Shane Douglas taking DW's place.
that's when i'll like TNA

what about having NO commentary. Just let the match speak for itself, and the wrestlers tell the story For that to work you need to have consistently good wrestling matches. WWE averages about 2 good matches per 3 shows... Even with the good worker, this only works live when you're actually at the arena being a part of the crowd. otherwise it's just wow this guy does that..oooh..aaaahh. a match without commentary just really really falls flat Now put JBL and Joey Styles in a booth, and we got magic

Meh, they'll probably embarrass him on his way out again, probably next week at Family Reunion.
He'll never get a Trish Stratus send off, then he runs back to WWE about 3-4 months later.
