A favorite of mine. You will be missed, big time.
Whether it was Japanese matches, UWF, etc, it was always a real treat to see the man wrestle.

This news saddens me greatly. I've always been a huge Steve Williams fan since I was a little kid in the late 1980s'. The guy's in ring persona of sadistic, deranged tough guy both scared the crap out of me and fascinated me when I was younger. Truly a great talent who was one of a kind. Often imitated but never duplicated. Rest in peace Doctor Death. Damn it another wrestler who died before his 50th birthday. What the hell is wrong with the sport we love?

This just sucks, I had thought he was doing much better in terms of the cancer, but one never knows with that damned illness. RIP, Doc, you will certainly be missed.

Absolutely gutting, knew what it was as soon as I saw his name on the homepage. Thought Dr Death was great ever since I saw his match with Kobashi for the Triple Crown; amazingly smooth wrestler, complete badass and absolutely believable with anything he did. Terrible loss, and 49 is too young.

He fought hard and for many years and he showed an impressing will to life. It's sad to see another legend of our business die way too early. Rest in peace Dr. Death, you're dearly missed.

This is a terrible way to conclude the year. Dr. Death Steve Williams will always be remembered as a great wrestler and probably one of the most bad ass men to step foot in a ring. I had the privilege of meeting him a few years back at the NWA Legends fanfest in Charlotte, NC. He wrestled Butch Reed that weekend and the pop for his entrance was enormous. He also preformed an inspiring Sunday morning church service where he spoke of his faith and his battle with cancer.
RIP

Although I'm sad that he's gone, I'm happy that he'll no longer suffer.
