Sorry to bring this. PWInsider.com has reported that former WCW World Tag Team Champion, UWF World Champion and All Japan Triple Crown champion Steve "Dr. Death" Williams lost his battle with cancer last night, passing away. They will have more details as they receive them. He was only 49.

He put up an honourable fight - my thoughts go to his family, and everyone in the business who was close to him. Particular mentions go to Jim Ross and Dawn Marie, whose Wrestlers Rescue charity was initially set up to support Dr. Death.

He beat cancer once, but then last month I read it came back and he would undergo chemo the rest of his life. Didn't think it would be this soon though.
His three backdrop drivers against Kobashi in Sept 1993 is one of my favorite match finishes of all time. He was a shit-kicker in All Japan with Hansen. He'll be missed.

Well, to put a positive spin on it, the Miracle Violence Connection is now reunited.
BTW, The Miracle Violence Connection is the best tag team name EVER.

Sorry to trivialise things, but Taz initally tweeted "RIP Steve Williams", and a lot of people thought that Steve Austin had died. He had to retweet to say that it was Dr. Death that had died.

wrestling lost a great one, i got to interview him a few year back on my radio show and he was a upfront honest guy but respectful and wouldn't shoot on anyone and praised guys like gordy and JR and i respected him for that, he was great in the ring and out of the ring, Well miss you Dr. Death !!!!

DAMN IT. Well, that puts a bad spin on the day. RIP Doc, one of the toughest men in the business. And outside it too, apparently. Anyone who beats cancer even once is tough in my book.
Loved the original Varsity Club, loved the MVC. I do need to check out more of his work from Japan, though.
Wonder if we'll get a tribute graphic on any of the shows?

Shit.
When I saw his name before coming into the forum, for some reason without knowing he was sick, I thought...."He passed away. Nah, that's silly, his nickname just made me think that."
RIP Dr. Death.
