You know what is somewhat irritating about Swagger's win? It shows that the company is willing to give shots at the top to people who have proven that they aren't great talkers....so long as they are a hoss. There are a ton of talented midcard who talk as well or better than Jack, some of whom are also very over as well. I like Swagger, but I have yet to see anything from him that even suggests that he should be anything more than a midcarder. Where are people getting this whole idea that Swagger can't cut a good promo? People can't get past the lisp, but you forget two of the all time greatest promo guys EVER had lisps. Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes. "*SNIFFFFFFF* You smell that? That smells like money in the bank!" Not exactly ground breaking promo material right there. And I agree he has the "goofiness" that Angle had, but he in no way has the "I'm a tough guy, so you'd better take me serious" thing that Lesnar had. Also, for the love of God, can we stop comparing Swagger's promo ability to RIC FLAIR and DUSTY RHODES? Those guys were dripping with charisma. Swagger can draw heat (the pushups mid-match are pretty cool), but his mic work is just not on par with what I expect out of a World champ. Not yet, anyway.

If they had these big plans for him, why was a he a jabroni on Raw for a year? I mean, did he even win a match on Raw? CM Punk, JTTS before he cashed in MITB Didn't he lose to Kane on the PPV he cashed in on?All I remember is he lost to Kane in a match that had no real build to it.

Only there for his size and look. Think a guy like Warrior, Warlord or, Khali.

I wasn't comparing him to those two at all other than saying when people talk about his lisp being why he can't cut a promo doesn't hold much water when two of the all time greatest promo guys ever had them. As for the Lesnar/Angle comparison again. His mannerisms and overall gimmick is VERY reminiscent of early Angle. His moveset is closer to Lesnar (as he is bigger).

Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes. I love ya, Robby, but there you go committing even greater blasphemy than comparing Swagger to his peers on the mic: comparing him to out and out legends whose jockstraps he isn't even fit to LOOK at let alone hold, at least in that department. I know it's en vogue to discredit Flair around these parts nowadays, but damned if he deserves to be disrespected that much by being compared to Thwagger. I am dead serious...go back and listen to a Ric Flair promo....I've heard hundreds from the man since I've been a fan, and NEVER have I heard him lisp as badly as Swagger does. NEVER. And one of his biggest foes was a guy named Sting, so I think everyone would have noticed had Ric been spraying down Tony Schiavone with saliva every time he said the Stinger's name. Dusty...yeah, Dusty's was bad, but his emotion, his character, and his vocal abilities made you look past it. Swagger doesn't have a tenth or a hundredth of the charisma of Dusty Rhodes...not yet, anyway. I know you guys are all head over heels in love with Jake Hagar, ....but please don't let that cloud your objectivity. The way some of you are creaming yourself... it's like you think he's better on the mic than Rock, HHH, Austin, Flair, Piper, Hogan and Jake Roberts combined. Or so it seems. I'm not saying the potential is not there....but that lisp is waaay....waaay....WAY too significant and way too present in his speech to look past it, not to mention he doesn't have anything to draw you away from it. In a perfect world, they'd let him run as a super intense, almost Benoit-like character who doesn't HAVE to spout catchphrases, or speak well, clearly, or forcefully on the mic. He just comes out and kicks your ass in the ring and that's that. "Prove me WRONG" and all that. THAT could work brilliantly with Swagger. I can SEE that working with him. I've said before, his wrestling skills, I have no qualms with. But to pretend that he's in a league with two of the best promo men of all time is delusional. As for people complaining that not all of us are turning jumping jacks at the thought of Jack Thwagger as World Champion...maybe some of us thought there were better candidates. Maybe some of us DO want a young guy getting a push...just not THAT guy. *shrug*

I wasn't comparing him in anyway to Rhodes and Flair. That would be unfair to him. I was merely stating that his lisp, which is no worse than theirs (especially Dusty), is not going to hinder him in the least. In fact with his gimmick it is an asset. They don't want to draw you away from it. His gimmick is a guy who thinks he's the cock of the walk. The baddest man on the whole roster, but he's actually a goof with a lisp. The goof will beat your ass though if you cross him. Its a brilliant gimmick, and its one that got over huge before. If I'm going to pick a new guy to be World Champion out of nowhere I'll take the lisp over the lucky charms voice.

^ That point about Sheamus is something we can agree on, Robby. You know what I've been waiting on forever? Finlay taking Sheamus to task for being such a "plastic Paddy" and overplaying the accent for the amusement of the Yank fans. Even if that's really NOT what Sheamus is doing, it'd be cool for Finlay to accuse him of it.

I tought it only meant a big strong muscular guy, thanks That's my interpretation of the word. I consider Swagger a hoss, but he by far not talented. He is agile and able and belongs in the WWE, but I have not seen anything from him that suggests that he should be that high up the totem pole yet. Eventually, perhaps, but not yet. Still, I am not crapping on it all just yet. I hated the idea of JBL as champ and it worked out. It could be good. I just don't expect it to be. Hope that I am wrong.

Possible bad publicity if a Irishman and a Northern Irishman are feuding.

Didn't Sheamus vs. Finlay occur for a slot in the Jesse Ventura battle royale in which Sheamus won his TLC title shot?

I think it could work but I just hope they don't Sheamus him. You hope they don't get him over and put him in an evenly-matched feud with Triple H? As for Sheamus vs. Finlay, yeah, they already did that on the Ventura show.

They are really beinning to feel the effects of not pushing certain people a few years ago, imo. Keep the same people at the top their entire career, using the rising talent as feeders...eventually it is going to catch up to you.
With all the old school talent slowly going away...it doesnt suprise me that they elevate some superstars. Tho the knee jerk reaction to do so might not be the best path, it doesnt surprise me.
