I wanted to post the video but couldn't find but the worst one in recent memory is Eugene. Thats right they tried to turn the lovable mentally retarded fan favorite into a mentally retarded bad guy. Its even worse, when you consider that the WWE had the perfect heel turn for him right in front of them. Just say he was faking the whole thing, and there you get some instant cheap heat.

To me, this begins with Tatanka in 1994. This is the grand daddy of all bad WWF heel turns. The guy was a popular babyface, he insisted that Lex Luger was a dirtbag that wasn't really into his pro American schtick and was really in with Dibiase. Then at Summerslam 1994 it was revealed that Tatanka was really on Dibiase's payroll and he did the heel turn instead of Luger (who is a more natural heel). I came to post this one. Horrible idea. Horribly executed. Left Tatanka with nowhere to go.

Ken Shamrock. They completely killed his momentum when he joined the Corporation, and he never really recovered.

I don't even think the Eddie 2003 angle with Tajiri was even a heel turn. What did Eddie do that wasn't already doing? To me, this begins with Tatanka in 1994. This is the grand daddy of all bad WWF heel turns. The guy was a popular babyface, he insisted that Lex Luger was a dirtbag that wasn't really into his pro American schtick and was really in with Dibiase. Then at Summerslam 1994 it was revealed that Tatanka was really on Dibiase's payroll and he did the heel turn instead of Luger (who is a more natural heel). The problem is that Tatanka did nothing different in his act. He still dressed as the same Indian and all that, just now as a heel. It was a terrible, career killing heel turn. What's sadder is that Tatanka made his little comeback a few years ago on Smackdown and WWE tried yet AGAIN to turn him heel and of course it didn't work and he was released. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The best thing about his 2006 turn was that he blamed white people for holding him down so that's why he turned on this man: Makes sense.

I think Rikishi takes home the gold on this one.
Before his heel turn I'd have happily laid dollars to doughnuts that he'd be a future world champ, even if only a transitional one. He'd been in the 'E for less than twelve months and he was already one of the most popular mid-carders on the show, and was really connecting with the fans. I don't think anyone was getting tired of cheering for the guy at the time, I know I wasn't.
Then one pointless heel turn during which he became a super-serious bumbling lackey, which was incidentally the complete opposite of why he was so over, and his career's pretty much stillborn.

Wow! I forgot a lot of these. But here's one I remember. In 2002 Ric Flair was the face owner of RAW. Vince McMahon brings in the NWO to oppose him. Months later after a few arguments with Steve Austin, Flair turns heel and aligns with the NWO just to recreate Austin vs evil boss angle #672. This. Mainly because Flair having anything to do with the nWo is just wrong. The sad part is the heel turn was supposed to catapult him to the main event.

Rikishi (Everyone speculates who ran over Austin, was it someone from WCW? is it Vince? NO, it's HBK........and come to find out it was Rikishi? Never understood it and he made a horrible heel)

The best part about Rikishi's turn was his theme.
He's a bad man. GET IT?!

Rikishi-Id be more eloquent but turning a thong wearing dancer into a badass champion of minorities was retarded. Weirdly enough,it led to the triple h austin feud which is one of my favorite feuds of all time. Pretty much ruined rikishis career.
Xpac-Ditto and I feel bad about that because I was actually an xpac fan as a kid. I remember avidly rooting for xpac and kane when they were a team then pac turned heel and...at first I was angry then I just...stopped caring about him. I stopped paying attention to him.
Edge-His one recently. Not because it ruined his career, infact I like edge much better as a heel. Im loving the edge and orton feud. But it was done so poorly that everyone I know whos a wrestling fan had the reaction of "Did edge turn heel?". Not out of disbelief or anger but out of seriously having no idea if he just became a heel or not. And I didnt even know until the smackdown segment with christian that he was a heel for sure.

I mean, when you think of a dancing fat man who prominently uses his arse to win matches, you think deep-seated angst and attempted murder right?

Matt Hardy, when he cost Jeff the championship at the Royal Rumble. I put it up there, only because it was seen coming from a couple hundred of miles away, he did nothing but whine about Jeff, and then when Jeff was going to leave he turned face again (presumably to take Jeff's spot) with no story whatsoever.

tatanka (buffalo). not just his one in the early 90s that everyone remembers, but when he came back, and "took revenge on the white man". how did he do that you may ask? by feuding with that famed white supremacist, BOBBY LASHLEY.
EDIT: beaten to it. well played.

Yeah the Tatanka thing is doubly disturbing because they tried to do a bad heel turn twice with this guy and it wrecked his heat both times. The 1994 turn was worse because everything pointed to a Luger heel turn, since Luger could actually work as a heel. By mid 1994 Luger's heat as a face was gone, his All American gimmick having tanked. A heel turn could have actually revived his career, since he could have cut promos along the lines of "I tried to do everything for you people, I tried to do it the right way...and you still didn't care! I didn't get the title!"
But, no. They turned Tatanka to swerve everyone, then you had a feud with a rapidly losing heat babyface Luger vs. a totally heatless Tatanka.

Then somehow being the heel AFTER helping beat the Alliance. God my brain hurts That was just everything returning to status quo. Think about it, Austin turned face IMMEDIATELY after Survivor Series that year. Dont get me started on the sheer rediculousness of Austin being a face only one night after trying to bring down the company.

Dont get me started on the sheer rediculousness of Austin being a face only one night after trying to bring down the company. It's because no one (outside of smarks) buy Austin as a heel, despite the fact that Austin WANTED to turn heel. And the "WHAT?" chant very much killed off his chance to get over as a heel. Back on topic, I'll have to go with Linda McMahon's heel turn. Which was wisely forgotten later. Another one would be Eddie Guerrero's 2003 heel turn against Chris Benoit.
